Getting perfectly outfitted for New York Fashion Week is an important part of my planning for the week, and I was so relieved to have the tremendous opportunity to pick out some pieces from
T.J.Maxx and
Marshalls to wear, as I always find incredible on-trend, designer pieces of top notch quality at the stores. This Friday of fashion week resulted in a decidedly black and white aesthetic with a pop of color, thanks to my accessories; a very “it” look this season.

Staying cool yet prepared for the potential rain that threatened the earlier half of the week was crucial, and I felt pretty stylish, comfortable, and prepared for whatever came my way in these pieces. See below for more pics of my look from Day 2, including some great detailed close-up shoots of my jewels and bag!
Follow along on social media via the hashtag #WHATIWORENYFW and the tags @Marshalls and @TJMAXX for more fabulous fashion-week bound fashionistas in incredible baubles and wares from the stores.

[My jewelry for the first day of fashion week!]
Today was the start of New York Fashion Week for the Spring/Summer 2015 collections, and it was QUITE a day!
I started off by taking the #OneShowerChallenge with Dove (more details here), followed by a busy day of running around, some lovely, lovely Venetian-inspired looks by Tadashi Shoji, the Altuzarra for Target launch party, and the star-studded NARS 20th Anniversary bash with Barneys New York. Phew! Posts over the next week will all be geared toward fashion week, resuming the normal schedule again on September 15th. In the meanwhile, I hope you enjoy the fashion week coverage, and here’s my day 1 look, that I literally wore for 16 hours today.

Depressing, isn’t it? And who wears black to the beach on the pen-ultimate summer weekend? Me, of course. I did change into my bathing suit later, but was a bit more dressed up for a Sunday brunch in Point Lookout, Long Island, on our way to Lido Beach. We spent the day at the Malibu Shore Club at the beach, a lovely bungalow of cabanas, swimming pools, the shoreline, and of course, the Atlantic Ocean. Upon arriving an old mosaic sign couldn’t help but catch the eye, reading “Malibu” in a retro-cursive font and colors that made the perfect backdrop for photos.
The pinnacle of the look was my new Keds, part of the Keds x Kate Spade New York collection which feature a pointed toe and vintage-inspired Cheetah print, made anew with it’s cool silhouette and infusion of “it” hues. A canvas shoe can truly embody the casual spirit of the summer, but can also be dressed up, like I did, with the right accoutrement; in this case, a little black dress and cool minimalist vest. I’m also sporting “man made” beach hair, which also represents the awesome beauty looks of summer, but can easily be duplicated year ’round with a bit of a good spritz (lately I’m loving the new Redken Fashion Waves 07 Sea Salt Spray).

I can’t believe that this past weekend was the first time I went to the beach all summer, and I also realized once we arrived that I hadn’t been to Asbury Park in (gasp!) 20 years! We fought the traffic heading south out of NYC this past Saturday to meander on the boardwalk, check out the sites and shops, lay on the sand, and dine on sweet and savory bites. Before slipping into our swimsuits, we explored the relics of a bygone era along the quite streets of Ocean Grove leading into the adjacent town of Asbury Park, and enjoyed the renaissance that it is experiencing via cool boutiques, antiques, and a plethora of sidewalk cafes, surf shops, and cute coffee outposts.
