Performers Kelly Rowland, Martha Wainwright, Editor-in-chief of ELLE magazine Robbie Myers and Rita Ora
It was a night of fashion, music, and fabulous makeup on Wednesday night when ELLE Magazine hosted the 4th Annual Women in Music celebration at the Edison Ballroom in New York. The event, sponsored by COVERGIRL (who provided the complementary party favors of lip gloss, nail polish and mascara), honored the talented women who have made an impression on music as well as fashion. Attendees included ELLE’s editor in chief and creative director Robbie Myers and Joe Zee, Lala Anthony, Adrienne Bailon, Carrie Keegan, Phillip Bloch and hundreds more.

Everyone performer AND attendee looked fabulous and the soundtrack for the night kept the crowd happy with a special DJ set by Harley Viera-Newton. But what better way to celebrate inspiring female musicians than with a private concert? The night ended on a high note with performances by folk singer Martha Wainwright, British pop sensation Rita Ora, and Kelly Rowland, who got the crowd dancing with a medley of Destiny’s Child and even some Whitney Houston songs in the mix. The concert was the perfect finale to this stylish and musical evening that left everyone dancing, even if they were wear donning sky high five inch heels.

Walking into Ted Baker London‘s stuy for the debut of this season’s collection took me back to the glamorous days of the ’20s. The interior was welcoming with leather armchairs and side tables decked out with opulent accessories such as crystal bow clutches and wallets (alongside a book or two). This popular London brand kept with its nostalgic aesthetic that also had a ’50s glam quotient via vintage floral prints and tweed blazers, and of course a traditional trench coat (a must-needed item to accommodate the London weather).
But the collection also incorporated many updated, contemporary components including conversational patterns, vivid colors, and great hardware accents. Ted Baker London’s artful use of pleats seen throughout the collection on dresses and tops married a sophisticated and playful tone to the lineup. All of these pieces, whether it be the rainbow window dress or the safari clutch, have such personality that they make a statement all its own.

Here at FPD we are still in the whirlwind that is the Oscars and all with good reason. We have rounded some of the best hair and makeup looks from a night where beauty trumps all.

Stacy Keibler stole the spotlight at the Oscars with her gorgeous gown and impeccable makeup look. On many interview occasions, George Clooney stepped aside and let the cameras focus on his lovely girlfriend; who said chivalry is dead? Celebrity make-up artist, Matthew VanLeeuwen was inspired by the glamorous ’20s, and this look was one of our favorites because it is something anyone can achieve with the help of some Elizabeth Arden New York products! To create this look simply use: PREVAGE Anti-Aging + Intensive Repair Daily Serum, Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Makeup, and dust on Pure Finish Radiant Bronzing Powder. For the eyes use: Beautiful Colorr Eye Shadow in Bone all over the eye and then in the crease apply Shimmering Cooper and Sugar Cube. To complete the look, use Beautiful Color Smoky Eyes Pencil and Enhancing Mascara. And lastly, no look is complete without some lip color! Try the Ceramide Ultra Lipstick in Cameo.

The Oscars is a night to celebrate cinematography, but it is also a night that brings great buzz about who was wearing what. So with no further ado, here is what we believe were the best dressed of the night in the following order:

1. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture looked breathtaking in this ivory colored gown. This mermaid-style dress flowed in such a way that looked like Lawrence was walking on a cloud with this billowing bottom. Keeping the accessories to a minimum with diamond earrings and a necklace worn in a style reminiscent of Princess Diana, she let the dress do the talking. And that it did. Whether it was via Twitter or Facebook her dress was all the buzz and all in good reason.

2. Charlize Theron also chose a Dior Haute Couture white peplum gown. Marrying simplicity and elegance, the completion of this outfit exemplifies that less is more. With a strapless V-neck neckline, slimming bottom and train, this sultry look was one of our jaw-dropping favorites.
