Fashion Pulse Flash

redken

Hellooo Redken fans! Not only is the new product packaging AWESOME, but the products are ALL goodies! Picking favorites, the two that will be impossible to pry from my hands the next few months are the Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer, which reduces blow dry time and protects from the heat, and the Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender, a dry shampoo that has a bit of a matte texture to it, perfect for updos and to sustain your professional of self-done blow out for a few extra days. Plus, it masks “oily hair smell” with a pleasant scent.

If the cream/wax/paste style of product is more your speed, the Redken Styling Flex Collection boasts three fab new ones: Move Ability 05, Mess Around 10 and Shape Factor 22. These have the opportunity to add texture, hold, and body to the hair, with the option to also be blended together to achieve a larger variety of results!

Morgan Taylor

Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer has arrived! I was like a kid in a candy store over the past few weeks, trying out dozens of shades and categories (sheer, shimmer, cream, metallic, sparkle) from the brand, which does capsule collections six times a year. A major bonus of the polishes, besides it’s EXCELLENT price ($8.50 per bottle) is that they are all 3-Free, which means no DBP, toulene, or formaldehyde chemicals.  Although the line is less than a year old since its inception, there are already 100 shades to choose from, and as you can tell from the pic above, I’m completely obsessing over the icy, opaque, pastel shades for spring; which hue is your “it” shade for the season? See Morgan Taylor’s website for an assortment of must-have hues!

Sassoon’s Bi-Couture Look for Spring/Summer 2014

Bi-Couture Sassoon Salon

Fashion and beauty go hand-in-hand, so it only makes sense that a hairstyle is as cutting edge, AND versatile, as you need it to be to be to perfectly compliment your look(s). The latest Sassoon collection of hair design, titled Bi-Couture, is the spring/summer concept that gives a strong nod to couture as well as to the heritage of Vidal Sassoon’s methodology of cutting, executed today, of course, by the Sassoon International Creative Team. Customization is key, which also represents the couture mentality, taking into the account the wearer’s features such as bone structure and hair texture, as well as comfort level and lifestyle.

There’s certainly a graphic element to the technique, thanks to its layering and geometric, angular patterning, found it both cut and color, however, it still remains wearable within its avant garde nature. The contrast and “bi” part of the Bi-Couture collection comes via the variety of styling options that are presented, thanks to the foundation of a stellar, considerate cut. See above for the two distinctly different ways in which the same cut can be styled, which in its essence, is Bi-Couture.

Julia DiNardo SassoonSalon

I personally experienced a signature hair design in the mode of Bi-Couture, thanks to Creative Director Michael Forrey at Sassoon Salon‘s downtown location. After chatting with Michael about my hair’s current life and expectations, I can  dutifully report that my requirements were certainly met (I wanted to still keep it relatively long, able to easily pull it back, and keep it low maintenance for styling), however I certainly got a major refresh to the style that I wanted to maintain. You can see some of the precise changes via the improved framing of my face with layering, taking up the hair a few inches to balance out the proportions, and some texture in the back for added volume, which I am always so desperately craving. As  an expert and pioneer of innovative hair design for decades, I know that I’m in good hands with Sassoon, and look forward to the collection that is presented for fall/winter 2014 (see here for previous seasons’ collection).
