Ever since Fashion Pulse Hubby and I went to Hawaii last year on our honeymoon, I’ve been infatuated with incorporating the scents of the tropics into our lives with beauty products.
These delectable aromas, such as plumeria blossom, papaya, and coconut, are also reminiscent of the fabulous summer season and vacationing in relaxing locales; a lifestyle that I could indefinitely get used to, but become depressed every year when the crisp fall weather begins to settle in on the east coast (summertime sadness, much?). I’ll hold onto the last remnants of summer for quite a while longer this year, thanks to the new Yes To Coconuts line, which is actually THE perfect product to use going into the colder months, as it is meant to hydrate very dry skin.
The nourishing formulation is available in an expansive lineup of 12 products retailing from just $2.99-$9.99 and including must-haves such as a Curl Defining Hair Smoother, Polishing Body Scrub, Cooling Lip Oil, Eczema Relief Spray, and Body Wash. I’ve tested them all and…I really can’t pick a favorite, I love them all! All of the formulas are close to 100% natural (mostly 97%-99% natural), and are petroleum, SLS, paraben, and cruelty-free.
Shop the Yes to Coconuts line at mass food and drug retailers nationwide, such as Target.

It’s understandable to love a lip gloss for its ease of application, however not all glosses are created alike. I’ve had my fair share of them that have been overly sticky and gooey, eventually becoming too tacky to move from the wand to the lips. Where’s the fun in that? Texture is certainly important to making sure you aren’t constantly on edge, waiting to prevent a “hair stuck to lips” moment, and once you’ve found a gloss that looks and feels great, you’ll lower your guard against these kind of mishaps.
I recently tried the Mehron Glosstone Pro line, a well-edited array of colors (five color options and one clear shade; $11.95 each) that is probably the least tacky lip gloss I’ve ever tried, is super smooth, and non-drying, thanks to ingredients such as aloe vera and Vitamin E. My favorite shade is Coral Reef, with just enough color to enhance my lip hue, without looking overly glossed.
If you’re more of a matte lip gal, Mehron has a well-pigmented L.I.P. Cream ($7.95 each), which pairs nicely with its new array of L.I.P. Liner Pencil shades (Darling, Brick, Sweet, and Hope; $8.95 each). Mehron, with a history as a theatrical makeup brand spanning eight decades, has been used on the sets of films such as Black Swan and in productions of The Lion King and Cirque de Soliel, as well as on celebrities such as Pink and Hilary Duff. Purchase its products at authorized retailers and online at Mehron.com.

Hello friends! Happy Friday!! I have a few quick tidbits of info for you on this lovely final weekday and intro to the month of August, that will hopefully help to start off the weekend right! Today is the final day of teaching Fashion Blogging Boot Camp at LIM College for the summer, however I will be back in the fall with another section of the course – stay tuned!

I grew up surrounded by Neutrogena products, always finding a massive bottle of Rain Bath tub side, so as I age (yikes!) it’s great to know that a trusted brand grows with my new skin care needs. Enter the Rapid Wrinkle Repair line,
which aims to brighten skin and reduce wrinkles in as little time as a week, featuring a specially formulate combination of retinol SA, glucose complex, and hyaluronic acid. The four complimentary products include the Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum, Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30, Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer, and Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream, and as expected, the price per product is EXTREMELY reasonable just what you would expect from Neutrogena, at just $20.99 each. All products are available through Neutrogena.com, and at mass food, drug, and beauty retailers nationwide.

The Dermalogica Hydro-Active Mineral Salts is just what your skin has been asking for this summer, in both soak and scrub form. Made without any artificial fragrances and colors, this slightly beige colored, sea salt-based item travels easily and offers a reprieve for tired feet when you tap some into warm water to create a soothing spa pedi soak. You can also dampen it in your hands to make a paste, then add a little oil (essential, body, or even olive oil!) to create a luxurious scrub for tough areas such as heels, knees or elbows, or as a little pre-shave treatment on your legs. Indulge on a full on bath while sprinkling some of the salts under the running water, relax, and enjoy!
The Dermalogica Hydro-Active Mineral Salts are $28 for the 10 oz tube or $36 for a 12-pack, available at Dermalogica.com and fine spa, salons, and retailers that carry the brand.
