Initially I had my reservations about spray foundation; it could potentially be very messy, and very different than what I’ve been used to with the traditional liquid foundations. My Mom has used the expensive Dior Airflash Spray foundation ($60), but I was equipped with the $13.99 Airbrush Spray Makeup from Sally Hansen. Although the natural inclination would be to just spray it directly onto your face, DON’T DO IT! Unless you’re naked or want to dowse your clothes in spray foundation, I’d recommend spraying it onto your hand, or onto a sponge instead. For more helpful tips, check out this video at Stylist.com coincidentally by Carmindy, Sally Hansen’s consultant and resident beauty expert. Back to the product: I tested it out in “light”, and the major observations I made were: 1) I didn’t really need that much spray to get all-over coverage, and 2) the foundation seemed to blend better into my skin, opposed to sitting on top of it like some other regular foundations tend to do. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this Spray Foundation, which is also paraben free, with olive oil extract, chamomile and Vitamin A.

Not to abuse the word, but the Maybelline Color Sensational Launch last night was just that — sensational! Held in a penthouse amongst the galleries far far west in Chelsea, the lovely fete was an intimate gathering of industry folk and customers to learn about and celebrate the new color lipstick line, Color Sensational, which is broken into four color categories (plum, natural, pink, and red) amongst vanity sets (see pics) and includes 48 lipsticks, 12 lip glosses, and lip liners. Shortly I will be trying out the shades, and reporting on the longevity and new pigment saturation technology that Maybelline is executing in this new line.
The big surprise of the night was a guest performance by film and stage legend Bernadette Peters, who certainly dazzled the crowd, and found ways to incorporate the new lipstick line into her song set. All in all, it was a wonderful evening full of excitement and enthusiasm for the global launch of Color Sensational.

It’s pretty much common knowledge amongst women of all ages that Maybelline makes incredible mascara. So with the new vibrating mascara trend, it’s only natural that Maybelline enter the arena with a vibrating version of their own. The Maybelline Pulse Perfection, which I got to test recently, puts out 7,000 vibrations per minute, which results in longer, thicker lashes, as well as not clumping and mimicing the zig zag motion of mascara application performed by professional makeup artists.
I must admit- at first I was a little nervous – what if it move too fast? What if I get mascara all over my face or it splatters elsewhere? Within two seconds, I realized that none of these things were going to happens for two reasons: 1) unlike other vibrating mascaras that come vibrating the second you free the wand from the tube, Maybelline’s Pulse is manual, so you control when it should vibrate. 2) The vibration is relatively faint, and easy to control, really making it no different than applying any other mascara application. I immediately noticed a difference of longer lashes, and have quickly placed the Pulse Perfection in the coveted spot of bathroom cabinet (instead of the overcrowded makeup organizer perched on a shelf in the bedroom).
The Maybelline Pulse Perfection mascara comes in “black” and “very black”, retails for $14.95, and will make its debut in stores in June. Can’t wait that long? You’re in luck: on May 18th, there will be a special online preview day for 24 hours only to buy the mascara. Simply go to www.Maybelline.com/Pulse, which will take you to one of four retailers: CVS, Target, Walgreens or Walmart to purchase the mascara.
