This past week I took a tour of the Burberry Beauty counter at Saks Fifth Avenue to become familiar with the layout, as well as get the lowdown on the newest arrivals, a sneak peek of what’s to come, plus learn about the brand’s best sellers.
Guided by John Trau, the Director of Education for Burberry Beauty, I learned that the colour palette for the beauty offerings was inspired by the Burberry Prorsum s/s 2012 collection, and tends to use makeup hues that strive to enhance, rather than dramatize, natural beauty. Hence, you will see warm tones for lips and natural colours for the eyes, with new lip shades including Tulip Pink, Devon Sunset, Golden Peach, and Primrose Hill Pink, with eye shadow including the Pale Barley shade, which looks GREAT on any skin tone (John demo’ed it on the press present to prove it).
We also learned about the blockbuster product, Fresh Glow, which can be worn under makeup as a primer, or over makeup as a refresher. Coming soon: the Limited Edition Sheer Summer Glow, which channels the concept of the Fresh Glow, but is available in a powder form instead of a liquid.
We’re loving the new shades, luxurious feel of the products, and overall packaging, and signature check branding of the beauty line so much, that we’re convinced you will be head over heels for it too!
The spring collection is currently available at select Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue locations (as well as online at Burberry), while the Limited Edition Sheer Summer Glow and additional Lip Mist shades will hit counters in May.
