 With a long history of affordable, effective products (since 1935), Boots No7 is considered to be Britain’s #1 skincare brand, so we might as well see what all of the commotion is about on this side of the pond, right? The brand has been found in mass retailers such as Target, Ulta, US.Boots.com, Drugstore.com, and Beauty.com for quite some time now, but I thought it would be nice to reintroduce a cult favorite, as well as new products from the brand.

  • Boots No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night Serum ($26.99 for both), as of this August will be found in two iterations, so that you’ve got 24 hour benefits, and work well layered under your day and night creams. While some products are for a specific stage of aging, these are clinically formulated for every stage of aging, so if you’re in your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond….you’re golden!
  • Boots No7 Youthful Replenishing Facial Oil ($22.99) can be used both morning and night, is suitable for ALL skin types, and includes jojoba and rosehip oils, combined with Vitamins C&E for antioxidant protection. Use it alone, or layer it under your day or night cream, and adjust the level of usage based on your skin type — for example, for dry: apply generously, for normal/dry, add 3-4 drops of oil to your cream, and for normal/oily, add 1-2 drops to your cream.
  • Boots No7 Lift & Luminate Concentrated Dark Spot Serum ($19.99) diminishes dark spots in four weeks, while gently exfoliating for brighter, more luminous skin and an even tone.
  • Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced Serum ($22.99), which has had overwhelming success in the past few years, boasts an enhanced formula that includes Matrixyl3000Plus, a new di-peptide that intensifies the ant-aging results, alongside a Vitamin C complex, mulberry extracts, ginseng, rice peptide and alfalfa complex. Moisturizing while fighting the signs of aging sounds pretty darn good, right? Apply this serum either (or both) day and night.

Maybelline New York’s Summer 2015 New Product Launches!

This time of year is my favorite for many reasons (summertime! warm weather fashion! food! Hawaiian shaved ice!), however I always anticipate and sincerely look forward to the release of Maybelline’s new products. Most will be hitting shelves this month, with a few on the docket for July. Here’s a rundown of what you need to know about the latest and greatest products from the brand, which can easily be found at mass marker retailers nationwide at affordable prices!

  • Volum’Express The Colossal Chaotic Mascara ($7.77 each) brings volume to the next level, recommending to sweep horizontally across lashes, then to go back in vertically to build up some heightened volume.
  • Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Gloss ($4.49 each) featuring oils and Vitamin E, smooths and softens for four hours, and found in 12 shades with glossy finishes. Broken into three categories: the Shimmers, the Creams, the Jellies.
  • Eye Studio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil ($7,99 each) is like playing with an extra fine point Sharpie, but better! It’s waterproof, providing up to 16 hours of wear, easily glides on, is smudge-resistant, and has a translucent gel base. Available in five colors.
  • Lip Studio Color Drama Blur Matte Pencil ($8.99 each) This could possibly be my favorite item from the new lineup! A matte, vibrant hue on one end, with a cushioned smudger at the endto perfectly fill in the lips and adjust to your desired level of saturation.

Dressing for a Music Festival…Like an Adult

My Dad was recently on the hunt for a style of denim that he kept referring to as “adult jeans,” jeans that are void of whiskers, faux wear and tear, fading, and/or too tight of a fit. As much as we kids laughed at him and his phrasing, I couldn’t help but relate to what he was saying while getting ready this weekend for the Governor’s Ball Music Festival, held in Randall’s Island Park, NYC.  I was honored to be a guest of one of my most favorite brands on the planet, Dove, who hosted me for a full day of music in their incredible stage-side cabana, indulging in the new Dove go fresh Revitalize products.

Since it was both a casual and professional event, with temperatures mixed from chilly, to very warm, to chilly and windy as the sun went down, I agonized over what to wear. The genre of “festival attire” is all of the rage right now, and I certainly owned a piece or two that would fit into that category, yet I agonized over what to wear. Footwear that was stylish and sensible, clothing that could be layered, all the while possessing a carefree spirit were top priorities.  And yet… I don’t necessarily subscribe to dressing “age appropriate,” but let’s be real – I wouldn’t be wearing anything that would mimic what the 15 year-olds were donning for the music festival. Plus, I do want to dress like an “adult going to a music festival;” my look is interesting, and has evolved, and is just so…me. So here’s what I wore to the Governor’s Ball, that was a mix of business and pleasure, varying temperatures, and overall, a total blast.

Fashion Pulse Flash: GapxBirchbox, Sally Hansen Goes Zodiac

This morning I spent some time in Gap‘s Herald Square store with Birchbox co-founder Katia Beauchamp and her team, as one of the first to check out the Birchbox + Gap Summer Beauty Shop. Available starting today in seven flagship Gap locations across the US through the end of July.  The shops feature three formats to try and tons of vetted products sprinkled throughout:
Format 1: Three-month subscription starter boxes ($30 for women, $60 for men); shoppers get first box in store (an exclusive Gap + Birchbox sample assortment) with a code inside to redeem the next two months’ boxes on Birchbox.com. Locations: Chicago (State Street), Los Angeles (The Grove), New York City (Lincoln Square).
Format 2: The Try Bar, a full-size product shop, and exclusive subscription starter boxes. Locations: Houston (Galleria), New York City (Flatiron).
Format 3: Build-Your-Own-Birchbox, full-size product shop, exclusive subscription, and starter boxes. New York City (Herald Square), San Francisco (Market Street).
I spotted some of my favorite brands in the mix, such as Dr. Jart+, Supergoop, Tocca, and Whish, with the opportunity to explore new ones that I have a very good feeling about, like Parlor’s Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray and Floss Gloss LTD Pro Nail Lacquer.

Honestly, this is a very very cool, natural team up, and now it gives me just another reason to pop into Gap, more often!

Sally Hansen Zodiac-inspired nail polish is here! With amazing colors to choose from, this limited edition Complete Salon Manicure Beachside Astrologer Collection is inspired by the signs of the zodiac, of course, while the brand worked with astrologer Aurora Tower to present the hues in fashionable nail art styles at the press preview (at Paint Box). The names of the colors are visible via the chart in the pic above,  playing off of each sign with names such as Leo in Rio and Pisces of Me.  The combinations presented above are comprised of signs that nicely compliment each other; I love that my sign (cancer) is paired with capricorn, so now  I know that people who bear that sign are a good match up/balance for me!

Besides the ingenuity of this special collection, the formula itself is not to be missed, as it’s incredibly chip-resistant while including a built-in base coat, strengthener, and top coat. Kick off summer with…your sign on your fingers and toes, or choose the color from the zodiac sign of your significant other or crush for a playful touch.  Available at national retailers, such as Ulta, for around $7.99 each.
