While the new year is still young, I’d thought I’d share a few things that I’ve sunk into this week (pictured above) from creams and scrubs to a really, really, good book.
Alright I’ll admit it: I’m a coconut fiend! I can now get that coconut-y feeling on my face, thanks to the Yes to Coconut Face Collection, going for that deeply hydrating vibe with the Ultra Hydrating Facial Mask ($15,99), sustain that moisture all day with the Ultra Hydrating Facial Souffle Moisturizer ($14.99), and continuous cleansing with the Ultra Hydrating Cream Cleanser ($9.99). Coconut oil is such a great treat for the skin, that I’m thrilled to be able to use it consistently across several product categories in 2016.
Need to slough off some dead skin and start a new? The Ole Henricksen Truth Sugar Glow Polishing Mask ($42) utilizes natural ingredients such as raw sugar, pomegranate seeds, honey, rose hips, mandarin, orange, and grapefruit oils to not only cleanse and exfoliate but to sanitize, brighten, soothe, and nourish skin. This February, Giorgio Armani Beauty expands upon its popular Maestro Fusion Makeup Line with a new bi-phase product dubbed Maestro Glow ($64, available in nine shades), an elixir with an ultra smooth application, yet contains no water in its formula. Instead, a concentrated mix of oils lends itself to be distributed gradually to the skin, not unlike that of a fragrance’s notes. A well-hydrated, glowing look is easy to achieve (this product is ideal for dry skin) through this distribution process, resulting in a final matte, velvety finish.
In tandem with Chinese New Year, celebrated February 8th and kicking off the Year of the Monkey, Giorgio Armani Beauty showcases this tradition with an imprint of the Chinese zodiac symbol on its Chinese New Year Illuminating Palette. The pressed powder, ideal to lightly mask, smooth, and blur imperfections, and perfect for a variety of skin tones also features a stunning red and black lacquer lid and base, representing happiness and good fortune. There are very few makeup brands that I can confidently say that when a new collection comes out, I want to keep all of the items as part of my permanent cosmetics rotation.The latest from Maybelline touches on all of the essential makeup bases with practical products and colors that will have you excited to test them out for yourself.
I’ve focused on four of my favorites here, starting on the far left with the Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color ($7.99), which offers up a richly pigmented color that applies like a gloss, and dries lie the most matte of matte lip sticks without any drying effects. Next up is the Eye Studio Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayon ($9.99), actually my favorite way in which to apply shadow to my lids. It slides onto the eyelids with ease, great for all-over cover in a slightly shimmered, creamy format. A great way to ensure that your makeup look stays the course is with a finishing/setting spray, and the Face Studio Master Fix Setting Spray ($12.99), is a quick way to mist and set your look, especially when you’ve got a long day and/or inclement weather ahead of you. The Dream Velvet Gel-Whipped Foundation is a long-lasting formula ($10.99), that is an interesting hybrid of textures – not quite a foundation, nor a BB or CC Cream but provides a nice level of coverage and hydration that is described as a “powder gel” formula.
