There’s so much to love about summer, and updating your makeup look with some new colors in the mix is fast, AND easy — as long as you have the right tools! They truly can make a world of difference in perfectly mixing, distributing, and blending your favorite makeup products! I’ve used five AWESOME brushes from EcoTools, listed above in the order of use, to create the ultimate subtle summer glow makeup look. Read along for my step-by-step guide, which will surely answer any questions you may have had about layering blush and bronzer, and how to use a kabuki and stippling brush!
Step 1: Take a lightweight tinted moisturizer, foundation, CC or BB Cream (I’m using a CC cream here); just make sure it has SPF in it to protect your precious assets! I like to apply the product to my hand and then dab the EcoTools Stippling Brush into it, to insure I don’t pick up too much product.
Apply the product on the Stippling Blush in a circular motion, dabbing on concealer where needed, and blending it together with your base layer via the brush.
Step 2: Now it’s bronzer time! Grab that super soft, EcoTools Angled Kabuki Brush, and lightly swirl it in your bronzer.
It’s important to start out with just a swipe of product on the brush, and gradually dip back into your bronzer and build up to the amount of product that best suits you.
The goal is to apply bronzer where the light/sun would naturally hit you, so lightly apply to temples and along the hairline, cheekbones, and with what’s left over, a light all-over swipe on your neck will do.
Keep the fattest part of the brush facing up and outward from your face for control, precision, and a natural, softly-angled application.
Step 3: Pick a summer-worthy blush shade — a brighter pink, peach, or coral (my favorite!), to lighten and brighten up your summer time makeup look.
Using the EcoTools Tapered Blush Brush, lightly tap in some of blush, applying higher on the cheeks and cheekbones, but also overlapping a bit with your bronzer path. I like to smile in order to catch the best point at the top of my cheeks, but its equally as good to apply with a relaxed face.
Step 4: The EcoTools Eye Enhancing Duo Set could very well be your new best friend in achieving the ultimate summer eye look! We’ll enhance and define your eyes in the next three steps, and for the summer, I absolutely adore a neutral eye palette that has both ultra matte, and slightly shimmery shades. Create the look by starting with a seashell white hue, taking the flat shader side of one of the duo brushes and nicely saturating it with the shadow.
Spread the shadow all over your eyelids, from lash line to the tippy top of the crease.
Step 5: Continuing with the eye technique, grab the other brush in the duo, and dip the fluffy blending side into a deeper hue (I picked a warm beige shade).
Apply only to the outer edges of the eyes, careful to not extend past the tear line.
Step 6: Going back to the first EcoTools Eye Enhancing Duo brush that you used, flip it over, and use the angled liner side to pick up one of the darkest shades in your neutral palette. Make sure that the brush tips are evenly coated with the shadow.
Now for my favorite part: steadily apply a thin layer of shadow along the top lash line only for some added definition.
Step 7: You’ve made it 95% of the way, and now for the finishing touches! A few swipes of your favorite mascara, top and bottom (if preferred) look fantastic, and I like to go back in again and lightly tap on a bit of concealer under the eyes with my ring finger to clean up any fallen shadow or mascara that may have accidentally made its way there.
I carefully re-blend in that delicate area with the stippling brush, and swipe on some coral lipgloss. Since we’ve kept the cheeks on the brighter side while the eyes remained more neutral, a vibrant, summery shade of lipstick or lipgloss can work nicely to round out the final look.
I hope you enjoyed this step-by-step guide to using these five fab brushes that actually work overtime as seven different brush options, and as always, EcoTools brushes are made from bamboo, recycled, and cruelty-free materials, are easy to clean, and even easier to use.
