Knee-Length Leather Skirts: a Little ‘Va-Va-Voom’ For The Office! (thefind Guest Post)
From our friends at thefind.com:
Since some of us are experiencing a killer heat wave this summer, it can be difficult to even think about the word “leather.” But since the Pre-Fall season is on every active shopper’s mind, it’s time to look forward to autumn’s biggest trends! Leather skirts are bound to be a staple next season, and while it’s no new look for the going out scene, it may surprise you to learn that more demure takes on the leather skirt are invading your future office looks… and yes, they’re classy! By staying mindful of an appropriate length, and choosing an elegant blouse or sweater to inside, leather doesn’t have to be too extreme for the workplace! Infuse a little Joan Holloway into your work routine with a stretchy sheath like this pencil skirt from Vince… but if black is a little too vampy for your taste, switch things up with blush leather or a pop of color like this Tibi skirt. Add movement despite the thick nature of the material with swingy pleats like this one from ASOS, or add visual interest with an exposed zipper and a gathered waist courtesy of Jason Wu. Either way, prepare to look at leather a whole new way!

Not Your Daughter’s Jeans, McQueen, Mom, & Me
Girls Day Out! Dad tagged along to be our photographer, on a sunny July Saturday in Manhattan with one particular mission: the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit at The Met. Mom and I rocked our Not Your Daughter’s Jeans Straight Leg Trouser Chinos in White, courtesy of the brand, and perfect for the summer as both a weekend casual and work appropriate garment. As you can tell we may look alike, and even while wearing the same pants, our styles are very different.
Either way, the NYDJ’s patent Tummy Tuck technology made us feel comfy and look a full size smaller. With great stretch, a higher waist, and back pocket slits, these chinos were complimentary to our petite frames, with this particular style available in misses, women, or petites (speaking of, I had to do a quick hem job on both of our chino, chopping 3 inches off of mine, and 5 off of Mom’s!).
So to The Met we went; Mom absolutely LOVED the exhibit, while my Dad somehow worked his way through it in less than 10 minutes, declaring “Now that one (exhibit), I didn’t get at all!” Afterward, we made our way to The Met’s rooftop garden, taking in one of the best views in the city, then went out for a Starbucks run and a Greek dinner in Astoria.
