The annual The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection that kicked off New York Fashion Week aimed at raising awareness of heart disease and to encourage women to lead a more heart healthy lifestyle. This year’s show featured an assortment of women from all industries, from celebrities like Kelly Osbourne, to Olympic athletes like gymnast Gabrielle Douglas and anchors such as CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, who all looked stunning in red dresses made by designers such as Zac Posen, Carolina Herrera and Reem Acra among others.
The model who got the most applause of the night was the show’s first non-celebrity participant Cindy Parsons, who has become a model of heart health in her Connecticut community by decreasing her blood pressure, losing 77 pounds and 12 inches off her waist through her commitment to the Heart Truth funded program Follow the Fifty: Models of Heart Health. When the show was over, the audience was left with a sense of awe not only from the beautiful clothes and famous faces, but also from the powerful message of protecting one’s heart, and overall health by taking preventive steps now.
