Organic by John Patrick
Entering the white space of John Patrick’s Fall/Winter 2010 fashion show, an organic aura was created with intertwined clear plastic hangers that manifested on a spider-web design along the walls. The following room consisted of gorgeous models with Amy Winehouse-style beehives in clothes perfect for the youthful urbanite. A collection of neutral boyfriend blazers, turtlenecks, and short skirts was enlivened by pops of pink, royal blue, plaids, and leather. The serious ensembles were made sexy with high hemlines, sheer blouses, and flirty shift dresses.
Norman Ambrose Fall/Winter 2010 Collection
Couturier Norman Ambrose’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection recalls the blonde bombshell styles of Alfred Hitchcock’s heroines. An assemblage of tweed shift dresses and herringbone car coats in burnt reds, orange, cream, and brown exude the retro romance of his collection and add a ‘town and country’ feel for his privileged clientele. Several blouses and blazers display a feminine silhouette hugging the waist and softening the hips with a flirtatious peplum. Stepping away from the 1960s, Norman’s favorite piece of the collection is a Ginger Rogers-esque couture evening gown in cream whose bottom half is detailed with hand-placed pearls and gem stones followed by ombre African feathers.
