[Don’t you just love all the commotion in the background?]
I knew Day 2 of New York Fashion Week was going to be insanely busy, so I wanted to bring the glamour without going overboard, or being uncomfortable. Black and blue just felt right to me — especially if it’s the right shade of blue – you have to be sure you can tell it is blue, and not a deep deep shade of navy that could be mistaken for black. Anywho, I wrapped my day at 2:30am, so as you can imagine, I’ve been SLOW on getting posts up- I apologize. BUT, please check out my New York Fashion Week coverage (and I would sooo love it if you subscribe to my posts) here: at AOL StyleList, StyleCaster, Beauty High, and more! Videos to come soon as well!
What I’m wearing:
Insanely beautiful beaded top (courtesy of Nicole Miller)
For fall 2011, futurism and angular design were obvious motifs at Nicole Miller, with diagonal darting and seaming found on a variety of materials adequate for the fall/winter weather, including leather, velvet, cashmere, jersey, wool, mesh, and twill. The palette was largely (and appropriately) one meant for the colder months ahead, in predominantly deep greys and blacks, with bursts of persimmon and the runway return of cerulean blue found in the mix.
Exposed zippers nipping at the ankle, accentuated leather knee caps contrasted upon black woven pants, asymmetrical sleeves, and just the right amount of silvery metallic — details like these were all reminders of why Miller has been such a strong, steady force in fashion. She knows how to create, and keep her point of view, while designing clothes that will certainly sell and work for a myriad of occasions, and ultimately retaining a definitively ultra chic allure. On so many levels, it’s impossible for her to disappoint her fans, while capturing new ones in the process.
