My Fall 2012 Fashion Week Adventure

Fashion Week might sound like the most glamorous, fantastic event on earth, and although it has it’s moments of pure wonder and rapture, it also has its place for a lot of work, exhaustion, and visual overload. Here’s some of what I experienced this past New York Fashion Week, Fall 2012 season.

At Robert Verdi‘s lounge, I got to check out the latest from Pop Phones (great new colors!), Snapfish, T3, Sinful Colors Nail Polish, Reach Toothbrushes (they’ve got some cool design handles) and more! Always one of my favorite places for a little r&r during the crazy week.

This custom made, Nicole Miller vest was EVERYTHING! The most amazing piece I’ve ever worn, I think I can say, hands down! I had to share a pic of the back of it, so you could see the incredible detailing.

I attended Bloggers Night Out this season, so that I could meet and mingle, but more importantly, spend some time with my girls from Sorrelli who had a display set up at the event. Of course I couldn’t resist trying on these amazing bracelets from the Aquatic collection, in the Sorrelli Avant Garde Collection.Aren’t they just stunning?

NARS hosted an incredibly well-done, intimate store party to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Bleecker Street store following an intimate dinner at L’Artusi around the corner. On a sad note, RIP to Marcel Nars, Francois Nars’ adorable pup, who was a “face” of the brand and passed away this week. Seriously, I have time for absolutely NOTHING extra during fashion week, so when this little care package from ONECARE showed up with a lint roller to get rid of FashionPulse Kitty’s hair in a jiffy (and it was scented too!) and Downy Wrinkle Release, it pretty much saved the day.

Thanks to the Tresemme team and Jamal for the awesome kinky waves and styling session above the crowd at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. It was nice to not have to worry about my hair for two days (yeah, I made this style LAST!), and now I love the 24 Hour Body Mousse!

Even though it always seems to be at the point when I am on the verge of exhaustion, somehow being backstage at Betsey Johnson (pictured above), seeing (and eating) the pounds of candy strewn about, the balloons, the music, the energy- I become instantly revised and revitalized!

Sometimes covering backstage, I don’t get to actually come around and see the show; it’s fun to peek at the clothes, or take a snapshot of some of the large boards in the back; it definitely gives a nice, cohesive feel to the entire collection!

Founder & Creative Director of world-renowned cosmetic company, NARS, François Nars highlights the importance and beauty of bright, exotic color usage. Starting April 15th, 2011, the Nars Summer 2011 Collection is available for purchase either online directly from their website, as well as through various beauty retailers (such as Sephora and Bloomingdale’s).

Austrian model Iris Strubegger was hand-picked by Mr. Nars for her deeply bronzed skin to properly accentuate the intense pigments infused into the collection of neon orange, bright white, cantaloupe, oceanic greens and blues, and bright pink. The highlight of the collection is the Cap Ferrat Trio Eyeshadow, which”fuses three cool-toned variations of teal for an effortless day-to-evening transition” and was originally inspired by the Alpes-Maritimes region of France.

The collection is priced at $17 for nail polish, $24 for lip and shadow pencils, and $45 for the eyeshadow trio (complimentary shipping is also made available after a purchase of at least $25 on the NARS website). The Launch of Saks’ New Blog, Saks POV, and Suggested Holiday Gifts

FPD recently attended a breakfast for bloggers at Saks Fifth Avenue to celebrate the launch of their new blog, Saks POV. So far, blog covers a little bit of everything, from things to do in the Saks neighborhood in NYC, to places and pieces beloved by their women’s fashion director, Colleen Sherin, branded under the ‘fashion pairings’ category.

The event itself was truly a celebration of the holiday spirit, with bloggers getting to preview Saks’ top gift picks for the holidays. Shimmering cocktail dresses by Valentino, Marchesa and Dolce & Gabbana were showcased, perfect for the season’s parties. A team from Nars was happy to demonstrate the latest tips and tricks for getting dolled up, and some attendees even got a professional do-over of their morning make-up.

Rebecca Minkoff and Portolano had the ideal accessories for that techie on your list: stylish gadget cases and adjustable-finger gloves to keep hands warm while typing. The ladies from GlamourPuss were also in attendance, giving the run down on their über-lux, yet über-affordable fur collars, hats, and mittens. Saks also had their own display of cashmere sweaters, a great staple for the coming months, and for pairing with the showcased cashmere and silk Brunello Cucinelli pieces.
