I have a long history of being “matchy matchy,” but it usually comes in the form of monochromatic looks. When I came across this trapeze skirt, it was accidental that the print looked identical to my acid yellow tank that I’d been struggling with, trying to figure out what to perfectly pair it with all summer. Sometimes, you just have to have patience when it comes to style; it will evolve, give it time, and don’t let it feel so forced. It will all come together eventually, I promise!

Right now, we are in a transitional state. The seasons are not only on the cusp of shifting, but so is the mentality regarding fashion week. Designers seem divided in their stance; some, like Rebecca Minkoff, and now, Banana Republic, bucked the traditional fashion week showing of the following season (i.e. spring/summer 2017 shown in September of 2016, fall/winter 2017 shown in February, 2017), for a “see now, buy now” approach, with items immediately available for purchase, and relevant to the time of year in which they are sold. I wear as much Giles & Brother jewelry as I can possibly collect/afford, and I do love clothes from Banana Republic, so to see the two team up for not a design collab but rather a symbiotic selling relationship makes a lot of sense to me! The above pictured Giles & Brother Leather Wrapped Skinny Cuff ($180) is one of about 30 items from the jewelry brand that can be purchased online or in-store at Banana Republic, ushering an era of third party offerings that keenly co-exist with a Banana aesthetic and wardrobe, and a natural connection for both brands’ customers to make. Labels featured through the retailer include Giles & Brother, Elizabeth Cole, Eugenia Kim, and August.
The news about these third party offerings makes this Banana fan HAPPY, as I own at least one item from all of these labels, reinforcing the shrewd selections made of coupling the brand with the right design partners. Check out each brand’s products and availability at Banana Republic online, here, here, here and here!
