Hot. Cold. Windy. Snow flurries. Hail? Sleet? It’s April – what is going on? It’s like seasonal Double Dutch this spring. No matter what you put on, it’s too much or too little for the elements. So we decided to put together some color-coded ideas, like chic layers, thigh high socks to replace winter tights, and the right boots for the April rain to help you let go of winter and embrace…whatever this weather is we’re having.
A Dash of Dark
If you’re mourning the late arrival of warm weather, do it with panache with these anything-but-somber pieces. Michael Kors Pea Coat, $145, Rugby by Ralph Lauren Ribbed Turtleneck Dress, $109.99, Missoni Zigzag Above the Knee Socks, $58, Kiki de Montparnasse Fingerless Lace Gloves, $125, Coach Pixy Op Art Printed Rain Boots, $108.
Neutral Territory
If you don’t feel like it’s time for fluorescent, but you’re tired of your winter darks, go neutral — it’s the perfect middle ground. Diesel Gumper Jacket, $295, Ralph Lauren Trench Vest, $2,198, Club Monaco Miriam sweater, $159, Rag and Bone Crocheted Gloves, $175, Loeffler Randall Rain Boot with Back Zip, $195.
Let the Sun Shine In
Show the world that you’re more than ready for spring with brights that will still keep you cozy. Zara Twill Trench Coat, $89.90, Apart Dip-Dyed Vest, $268, DKNY BoatneckPullover with Gathered Shoulder Detail, $125, Forever 21 Doiuble Layer Gloves, $2.50, Hunter Andora Wedge Rain Boots, $175.

If there’s one tidbit of fashion advice we can take from spying on all the New York Fashion Week attendees, it’s that circle scarves are still undeniably in. Of course, despite the fact that it’s getting increasingly sunny here in the Bay Area, it is still freezing over in NYC, so it makes sense to stay bundled up. But realistically, you don’t need to be shivering to need an excuse to wrap up in a cute infinity scarf. As we transition from winter to spring (and even through the nippier nights of late spring and summer), lightweight jersey or gauzy-textured scarves come in handy as a way to add color and accessorize while not looking or feeling too stuffy or totally seasonally-confused. Add a pretty colorful infinity wrap to an otherwise simple sundress, or dress up a plain tank or tee with a luxe silky printed scarf. It’s the perfect way to cover up in these awkward in-between-seasons days and nights without breaking a sweat or clashing with your outfit!

Pity I couldn’t get a closer image of these shoes (from Jill Stuart fall 201!), but trust me, they are beyond fab!

I draw attention to this close up shot not for the bag- but for the ring (from Diane von Furstenberg)! I recently got one from my friends at Sorrelli that is identical!
