[The Adam Broderick Salon & Spa in Ridgefield, Connecticut]
Have you ever had an experience, unparalleled to any other, which, now going forward, will set the bar extremely high for all that comes after it? This can relate to anything, really, but for me, it directly correlates with a spa experience. A bit of a spa aficionado for work and pleasure, I’ve had my fair share of treatments in a variety of settings, some of them average, some above par, but always at the very least acceptable, and I remain grateful for each and every experience.
With an open invite to visit the Adam Broderick Salon & Spa in Ridgefield, CT (there is another location in Southbury, CT), about an hour from New York City, I was wondering how the experience would rival that of some of the ritziest spas I’ve frequented in the city. The thought vanished almost as quickly as it had appeared, thanks to the distinct, stunning appearance of the salon, featuring elegantly curved windows flanking the ground and top floors.
Upon entry, the genuinely friendly, exceptional customer service and gorgeous setting, which had been recently renovated, was a welcoming presence. After a quick lay of the land from the friendly staff, I slipped on a robe and entered the Relaxation Room, a tranquil oasis where taking a pause is easily encouraged among sprawling linen chaises and fruit tinged water, where I waited in-between treatments, and easily could have spent more time!
I had a de-stress massage by Molly, which had the Swedish technique as its base, but is further customized with what the client may need. As part of the treatment, I received a complimentary facial massage, neck warming pillow, and dry body brushing, with the latter certainly being a highlight! It exfoliated and stimulated my back, legs, and arms, while the massage itself was so relaxing that I didn’t know how I’d ever be able to have another massage anywhere else! After drifting dreamily from the treat room to the restroom, I noticed that they were fully equipped with a generous array of Bumble + Bumble and Adam Broderick’s own ab haircare line of styling products, making getting back to the real world (unfortunately) quick and precise.
[The upstairs salon space]
Luckily for me, I was only 1/3 into my experience at Adam Broderick Salon & Spa, next making my way upstairs for a wash and blow out. My stylist Marisol has been with the salon for 12 years, and was incredibly knowledgeable with the products used and attentive to my hair needs. Three days later, my blow out is still manageable, which speaks to the quality of products (Oribe, ab haircare), and Marisol’s thorough techniques.
[The ab boutique]
Last, I ventured back downstairs, circling through the ab boutique, which included everything from handbags and scarves to NARS, ab cosmetics, a lash and brow bar, hand and face wipes, and soy candles.
[The ab nail bar]
Heading to the ab nail bar, I discovered that the streamlined space featured a U-shaped bar top for manicures, and a banquette complete with spacious, comfy leather seating and built in tubs for pedicure soaking and prep. My manicurist, Josette, had also been with the salon and spa for a handful of years, and gave my tootsies and heels the TLC that they so desperately needed. She erased my feet and nail beds of its fashion week remnants (dry skin, less than presentable cuticles) and I really can’t recall receiving a better pedicure in my life!
Reluctant to leave, I lingered in the lobby, enjoyed one more cup of Starbucks coffee (the salon brews it there), and left in a much more relaxed state, taking in the stunning scenery as I drove back to the crush of the rush hour crowding on the subway, waiting for me at the start of the week.
Was it worth the trip to Connecticut? Absolutely; so much so that I am actually jealous of those who live nearby, solely based on the Adam Broderick experience that I had!
