Recently Lanvin unveiled its newest and arguably best yet fragrance, Éclat de Fleurs, which epitomizes femininity with both floral and fruity notes. FPD took in the featured and most prominent scent elements at the launch event last week, which include pear, a bouquet of flowers, white musk, and sandalwood. This fragrance follows the 2002 release of Eclat de Arpège, inspire by the bond between house founder Jeanne Lanvin and her daughter.
This previous fragrance was used as further inspiration for Éclat de Fleurs, which is described by the brand as “feminine, fresh, and spontaneous, that gives off both lightness and joy.” The aim is to give the impression of a sunny spring afternoon, which it certainly does, in full sensory aromas. The bottle features a carved out flower, resembling the marguerite, which is also the name of Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter. The fragrance is priced at $82 for the 1.7 oz. size, and $105 for the 3.3 oz., and is available now exclusively at Nordstrom.

We’re now midway through London Fashion Week, and most designers are keeping it autumn-classic in the accessories department, with a color palette full of earthy blues, greens, and khakis, and the easily visible abundance of leather, python, and crocodile accents. Anya Hindmarch channeled the Eighties with her Pac-Man inspired collection, filled with bags of all types- from clutches to backpacks. Most were made in leather, crocodile, and snakeskin materials in camel, grey, and deep burgundy hues, each detailed with repeating star or square patterns perfectly fitting in with her video game themed runway. Burberry incorporated mostly compact, handheld bags with a thick, belt-like strap, and using very similar materials. Each piece featured a variety of color, most containing shades of brown, olive green, and yellow. Straps were finished with oversized buckles and metal embellishments, coinciding with a very military influenced collection.
Mulberry‘s Johnny Coca aimed to show looks depicting women that he had seen on the streets on London. The brand’s biggest money-maker, their bags, were truly a staple in the show. They were structured, with color blocking detail, chain and leather straps, and tones of green, navy, and beige python. Vivienne Westwood Red Label fits well into this group, inspired by Renaissance artists Donatello and El Greco, and also showing structured bags in beige and deep blue. Fitting right in with the ever-dominant long and oversized silhouettes that have taken over the runways this New York Fashion Week, is the statement making bell sleeve. The return of the ’70s has been a long time in the works, and this particular sleeve trend is arriving at a time after the renewed popularity of other ’70s staples such as the wide leg pant, fringe embellishments, and beige suede jackets. This particular aesthetic has allowed designers to draw attention to certain pieces, while still staying true to the overall vision of their collections. Jill Stuart took on this silhouette with a very 70’s rock inspired and bohemian influenced look, while À MOI’s Alejandra Alonso focused mainly on geometric shapes.
Others were strongly inspired by current street style, like Nicopanda‘s messy grunge approach. Both Georgine and Öhlin/D brought a more bohemian and romantic feeling to their runways, incorporating lace and ruffles into their take on the trend. Click through the slideshow to see how others interpreted the bell sleeve for fall 2016, that will surely be incorporated into fall and even summer of 2016.
