Give your Mom a WorldofGood(.com) on Mother’s Day

[ All images via WorldofGood.com]
Currently existing as a sub-section of eBay, WorldofGood.com serves as “A global marketplace where every purchase makes a positive impact,” to benefit people, animals, non-profit organizations, and the environment. This month’s feature coincides with the annual Mother’s Day celebration, with two segmented guides provided on the website to direct visitors to the two sections dedicated to offering ways in which gifting your mother could dually benefit as also a gift for another mother in some far off place.
What’s great about World of Good is the mission: to ensure a fair trade deal between the buyer, and the artisan and to verify that the artisan receives the proper and legitimate amount due for his/her craftsmanship. So, it’s basically like shopping online at the local market tables in less-developed nations such as Indonesia, India, Peru, Cambodia, Mexico, Kenya Coast Republic, Nepal, Malawi, and/or Vietnam, among others. Some great Mother’s Day presents available on this website include an “Out on the Town” black leather round-handled purse from Peru; a handmade ceramic set of Blossomed Spa Oil Bottles from Indonesia, a Balinese sterling silver handcrafted pendant also from Indonesia, a Paisley Shimmer handwoven shawl by Novica from India; and a Mata Traders Fair Trade Bolero Jacket in grey from India. Go to the website to search for further fair trade items/Mother’s Day gift ideas and for more information about WorldofGood.com. There’s also free shipping on select item.

A Few Things for You & Your Mom to Share
A bond between a mother and a daughter is a special thing, made even more special when you can share clothing, accessories, and the like! My Mom and I are constantly swapping (er confiscating) stuff with each other, and since we are the same shoe size, it is made all the more convenient! Inspired by a tweet I just saw via @modcloth , I decided to check out some great gift ideas for Mother’s Day at one of my favorite online store, and you know, with all the stuff being items both of you will love!

Creature Comfort Teapot, $24.99

Bodacious Blue Bag, $89.99

Meow for Measuring Cups, $34.99

The Palladium Project: The Final Product is Revealed!

[This photo, by Julia DiNardo, all photos following by David Lang]
[My inspiration, a Justin Giunta for Subversive Jewelry necklace, alongside the finished Palladium cuff]
Since November, I have been working with two jewelry design students at FIT (The Fashion Institute of Technology) and Palladium, the white precious metal, on The Palladium Project, a collaboration to create a piece of jewelry between bloggers and young, budding designers. The duo I was paired with, Melissa Kaye and Ginger Friedland were superb in every way; we clicked immediately and they worked very hard on seeing my design aesthetic come to fruition. This project, which took about five months start to finish, involved several bloggers and a bunch of beautiful designs in the end, with currently only four of each design made. Palladium the metal is white, strong, and part of the platinum family, with all designs being made solely with the material. See below for pics from the event, including some great new designs from my fellow bloggers, and a sneak peek at the Get a Life! Collection by Vivienne Westwood for Palladium!
