Blazers Get the Fall Treatment with Leather Lapel Details (thefind Guest Post)
From our friends at thefind.com:
Blazers and their slightly-more-structured cousin, the tuxedo jacket, have been a style staple for the casual fashionista everywhere. Throw one on over a classic tee and jeans and you’ve instantly transformed your look from lazy to luxe. Top off a tank and shorts and you’ve got yourself a night-out ensemble that’s totally sophisticated and sexy. The possibilities are endless, and the transition power is always impressive, and now just in time for fall, some of our favorite styles are getting even more stylish with chic leather details. Leather lapels are a subtle yet sexy way to edge up your favorite suited-up look – it’s just as sleek and polished, but with the slightest rock ‘n roll touch that’s perfect for pairing with your new spiky heels or moto ankle boots! It’s the perfect transition piece from summer to fall, if you’re not quite ready to break out the full-on leather jacket!

For Him: The Selk’bag

Guys generally like the outdoors. They also generally like gadgets. Combine these two elements, and you’ve got one blockbuster product — the Selk’bag. Your man will be able to choose his own adventure with this in tow, and naturally be the envy of all of his friends for the awesome warmth and mobility that provides. Available in three sizes and five colors, the Selk’bag classic (pictured), $159. featured a nylon rip-stop, water resistant finish great for all seasons, providing warmth down to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. You can also keep your hands concealed, or let them pop out, and a tapered knees design to permit flexible bending capabilities.
The weight of the classic bag itself varies depending on size (4-4.7 pounds), but you can also go for the Selk’bag lite, $99, which is 30% lighter (2.9-3.9 pounds) and also rolls up into a small, portable pouch! Fashion Pulse Fiancé climbed right into his classic bag, sent courtesy of the brand, and a few guy friends have already tried to borrow it! The Selk’bag gets a big thumbs up from us, and also makes a great gift for kids (see here – currently on sale for just $47.40!).

Cherry Bomb!
As part of the Independent Fashion Bloggers and Uncommon project, I needed to pull together a Fall 2012 trend that I would like to see created as an iPhone case. I always like to have distinguishable, brightly colored wallets and phone cases to easily find them in my handbag, aka the bottomless pit, and upon a few minutes of thought, the idea was literally flashing red, like a blinking traffic light or stop sign, before my very eye — red!! A vibrant, cherry hue, a mixture of true primary red with a tad of orange, has been one of my favorites to wear for nearly a decade now, and it was literally all over the runways for fall 2012, from handbags and accessories to footwear and apparel. The song “Cherry Bomb” by The Runaways kept coming to mind whenever I thought about this trend, as it’s hard to avoid this bright, in-your-face color!
My inspiration for the choice of this hue was further reinforced upon flipping through the latest J.Crew catalog and seeing red dresses everywhere (my favorite, pictured above, coated in dots). I immediately whipped out my iPhone and started photographing all of the items I could see, which seemed to be practically every other page. Later that night, as I was flipping through the bench-press worthy tome, Vogue‘s September issue, my eyes kept catching the color everywhere and as I “iPhone documented” my favorites, the ah-ha moment that confirmed the season’s shade was evident. From the looks of things, the “little red dress” is going to be a major player for fall, and expect it with adornment, in great textures like taffeta, soft silk, or sexy lace (all pictured above). For accessories, think waxen, sturdy, and even of lucite, plastic- like appeal (see the Prada heels, and Yayoi Kusama collar for Louis Vuitton pictured at top).
Will you try this shade of red for fall 2012? Please do, and join me!
