We know about Tom’s and Warby Parker, offering a one for one formula with their products for those in need, but there are certainly other sustainable business models that can uplift and support communities around the globe. Looking at the accessories sector in particular, there are a handful of hot brands and organizations peddling incredibly well-crafted, high quality pieces out of Africa that also support the craftsmen directly through their existing businesses and trades. We’ve selected three of these companies, and their stories, found below, that will charm you, while the unique pieces will most definitely entice you!
Malkia Style
Malkia, which means “queen” in Swahili, collaborates with artisans in Nairobi, Africa, working out of small workshops or their homes to create these handmade, impeccable pieces of jewelry with the beading itself being done by hand from women in the Maasai tribe. Only a year old, Malkia Style has already established that in addition to working with these artists, 10% of every sale is donated to CARE , which works to fight poverty and empower communities in Kenya. Jewelry materials area locally sourced, such as cow bone, cow leather, and brass, and as an added bonus, like Malkia on Facebook for 25% off your purchase!

Mackage is WAY more than just fabulous coats:the brand just launched a spanking new handbag collection for Fall 2013! The 10 styles launched with this initial collection include backpacks, cross body, and structured offerings, with hardware, colorblock, pebbled leather and strap details and options, retailing from $350 – $650. Which one is your favorite? I’ve got my eye on the three in the image above!

Jane Iredale lays it on, naturally, with her new line of PureMoist Lipstick, available in 24 sumptuous shades! With natural extracts and oils such as orange peel wax, organic coffee seed, blackberry, and pomegranate extracts, avocado and sunflower seed oils,, your body will truly feel good as you apply these new shades to your smackers. Pair with one of the three Lip Definers to sustain the long lasting color, as well as alter the shades for maximum versatility. The lipsticks are available starting this month, and retail for $25 each at JaneIredale.com and select skin specialists and beauty retailers nationwide.

Glittered to the nines, the latest six hues from Deborah Lippmann, Jewel Heist, is heavily, and heavenly laden with all things that sparkle in the nighttime, making the name rather apropos. The dark, rich shades are destined to be phenomenal for fall, kicking the nail obsession with all things that shimmer and sparkle into high gear. My favorite of the six is Va Va Voom, perfectly described as a “scintillating, sparkling sapphire,” with thick, chunky, saturating glitter running throughout.
