While previewing the Athleta spring 2014 collection, I it hit me that I could very easily LIVE day in and day out in the new season’s offerings, which is kudos to the brand for thoughtful design and careful attention to detailing, fabrication, and color. From supple, quilted vests to space-dyed slouchy sweaters, working out and carrying on with the rest of your life has never been so seamless. I actually feel like I want to work out more, since I have stylish and comfortable pieces to do so in, retiring my old tshirts and pants to lounging/sleeping/never-to-see-the-light-of-day only.
I’ve found it easy to shop as well, with the website indicating what the particular item is inspired for (i.e. gym training for the No Sweatin’ it Pant, and running for the Diffuse Tight by MPG).
See the slideshow above for some of my top picks for spring 2014, which also include incredible technology like the UNSTINKABLE tech, allowing you to wear items more and wash them less without smelling like you just worked out in them five times.
Plus, I’m excited to shop Athleta via the in-store experience; a new store recently opened in the flatiron district (at 18th Street and Park Avenue) in New York City, and check the list of locations for one near, or opening soon, near you!

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the imbued deeper meaning behind selecting and wearing particular products, taking pause to dwell on the conscious and unconscious sentiments triggered by a certain piece of clothing or even the scent of a familiar fragrance resurfacing in my life. With that in mind, I wanted to explore a “pair it with this” category, in which I featured anything from a fragrance, lipstick, or accessory coupled with the rest of the puzzle – what you would pair with!
Fragrances can invoke a certain mood, personality, time of year, and occasion, so i thought it would be a great way to kick off the segment by connecting the new Clinique Calyx fragrance (priced from$54-$69) with a look that would go in tandem with the fruity floral fragrance. This unique, distinct scent is an effervescent bloom of lightness and a touch of sensuality, thanks to the notes of citrus (mango, grapefruit, mandarin, guava), floral (freesia, rose, jasmine, neroli), and greens(sandalwood, vetiver, oakmoss).
Originally released in 1986 and now brought back into the fold by Clinique, it embodies both classic and modern sensibilities, with a brisk, clean finish. Thinking about this, I envisioned a structured look that didn’t take itself too seriously, hence, I opted to wear/pair the scent with apparel and accessories that do the same thing; classic silhouettes with modern updates, not revealed in the cuts but sexy in its high style quotient.

Great style + great company= a homerun for holiday 2013, as I experienced last week with my friends from Nautica. Amongst a sea of the brand’s products was a unified theme of versatile and practical cold weather gift options, ranging from quilted puffer vests to the classic fisherman cable sweater, fuzzy slippers for men and women and cozy sleepwear sets that are certain to be well-received! And if you’re in need of a few more gifting ideas, I love the men’s section of gifts under $50, and the women’s for gifts under $50, including my favorite nautical bangle at just $19.99!
Happy shopping!!
