Although I’ve always been a one-piece person, it seems that according to fashion trends,  it’s now become the preferred swim silhouette for summer 2014. Rejoice! If only there were enough beach days ahead to account for a surplus of them in my collection! The It Accessory: Summer Scarf Fever

Sometimes carrying around a cardigan can be a bit cumbersome, and in the warmer months, light and filmy layers are just so welcoming! I’ve been having quite a love affair lately with scarves, and as my collection has been expanding, so has the way that I’ve worn them, evolving from an infinity-like style to more specialized knots and different drapes (I’m still no pro at tying a scarf; check out the book How to Tie a Scarf for some extra tips and tricks).

This summer, you will most likely find me with one loosely rung along the strap of my handbag, inside of it, or draped on my person. Have you got a things for scarves too? I recently spent a long weekend traipsing all over  the Lone Star State, visiting my cousin and friends, and man, does that sun really beat down on you there! I certainly came back a little redder and more freckly than when I left, which was certainly a good reminder that it’s time to have the SPFs in order for the summer.

No matter where you live or vacation this summer, there’s a chance that you’ll need some sun block, and if you are fair like me or just want some added protection, the higher the SPF, the better! Take a look at my top picks above, which range from products good for face and body to lips, distributed via creams or sprays, and available at both specialty and mass food and drug stores in a variety of price points. As you’ll notice, for face and body the SPF doesn’t dip below 40, while for the lips 15-30 seems to be the average as an ample amount of coverage that brands offer. Have a TERRIFIC summer, and don’t forget to toss those old, sun-exposed SPF products that you’ve had from seasons past, as the chances are that they’ve lost some or all of their efficacy by now.

I Know What You Wore Last Summer

As summer officially starts this week and I’ve spent a hefty amount of time going through my closet to purging and reorganizing, I thought it would be a fun exercise to a take a peek at some of the items I was obsessed with last summer. As I’m shifting the focus to have a heavier hand on accessories at FPD I will share quite a bit of those, while there’s no denying my favorite look of summer 2013: my wedding dress and accessories!
