Although I’ve always been a one-piece person, it seems that according to fashion trends,  it’s now become the preferred swim silhouette for summer 2014. Rejoice! If only there were enough beach days ahead to account for a surplus of them in my collection! A girl can certainly look, however, and with the return of J.Crew’s signature scoopneck tank one piece and a bevy of flattering silhouettes and prints to choose from, trying on a swimsuit and finding on that fits your physique and personality has become much easier than what you’re accustomed to in this category.

Check out the slideshow above for 10 fabulous one-piece options to get you excited for the summer season, with the only things left to pick up being a filmy cover up, your shades, and some SPF!

I Know What You Wore Last Summer

julia dinardo personal style

[As spring turned into summer, I mainly wore black and cream for the transition, with pops of neon where needed]

call-it-spring

[These items accompanied me on my honeymoon to Hawaii, and became my favorite flip flops for the summer of 2013]

[These were my jewels (from Sorrelli) that I wore to my rehearsal dinner]

[The assortment of jewelry, both new (custom Sorrelli pieces) and old (my Nana's amethyst ring), that I wore on my wedding day]

[We couldn't have had a more beautiful setting for our vintage-inspired wedding, and my dress, from J.Crew, had a few customizations to it (lace at the bottom). I was so comfortable in it, thank goodness, since the temperature hit 90 degrees!]

[I wore these (from Shoedazzle) to my rehearsal dinner]

painted-bird-shoes-

[The Painted Bird woven sandals channeled a perfectly boho summer look]

mara-hoffman-2--1

[My favorite maxi-dress of summer 2013, from Mara Hoffman, paired with a short sleeved cardigan in the event of venturing into chilly, air-conditioned venues]

rebecca-minkoff-summer-2013

[These Rebecca Minkoff heels were my favorite, surprisingly matching a wide variety of looks]

As summer officially starts this week and I’ve spent a hefty amount of time going through my closet to purging and reorganizing, I thought it would be a fun exercise to a take a peek at some of the items I was obsessed with last summer. As I’m shifting the focus to have a heavier hand on accessories at FPD I will share quite a bit of those, while there’s no denying my favorite look of summer 2013: my wedding dress and accessories!

See the slideshow above for a sampling of last summer; although I feel my style has certainly evolved in the course of a year, there certainly are pieces that I will continue to constantly wear for this summer, and hopefully for many more to come.
