Reem Acra for Resort 2015
A few weeks ago, I had decided that my resort 2015 coverage was wrapped, however, when the Reem Acra resort 2015 collection arrived in my inbox this morning, I had to make an exception and share it! Embellished and perfectly executed, the range of dresses you will see, from cocktail to black-tie formal are delivered in a palette of largely royal blue, persimmon, emerald green, Kelly green, and hot pink are made even more lavish with crystal embroidery and re-embroidered lace. I’d love for you to take a peek at my favorite pieces from the collection, and look forward to its arrival in the next few months.

The Perfect “Summer Red” at Nunzio Saviano Salon
It’s true that red is an incredibly difficult hair color to match and maintain, however, it can look incredibly radiant and so natural, give the right hue for one’s complexion. Courtesy of the salon, I met with Stephanie Brown, expert colorist at Nunzio Saviano Salon, and we decided on the right combo of process and shade to give my red a bit of a refresher, especially since I was missing my natural ash blonde locks that tend to get even lighter in the summer. My new shade was a combination of permanent and semi-permanent shades mixed together, and once set, with some highlights on top, finished off a gloss (see here for another before/after pic).
Color can certainly be an intimidating thing to have done, especially at a new salon where trusting your colorist is extremely important. I felt right at home in the intimate townhouse salon space, with Nunzio stopping by to say hello. There was only a handful of stylists and clients in the salon, which made my experience feel that much more comfortable. The decor is minimalist yet inviting (see above), with clean lines interspersed with the occasional orchid plant and orb-like heat lamp, and even a small outdoor space found on the second floor.
I’ve been to my fair share of salons and had quite an array of treatments, beckoning back to my day as a beauty services writer for Shecky’s years ago, and truly appreciate exceptional service and a warm, comfortable environment. Located on the Upper East Side, this full service salon is convenient to all parts of the city and offers color, cut, style, treatments, makeup, eyebrow, and coming soon are manicure and pedicure services. If you live in the NYC area I encourage you to come see one of the talented stylists or colorists (Stephanie is wonderful!) at the salon!
Nunzio Saviano Salon is located at 130 East 65th Street between Park & Lexington; call 212.988.0880 to book an appointment; see the website for a list of prices.

Getting in Shape for Summer (and Beyond): SWERVE Fitness
Last week, I took in a complimentary class at SWERVE Fitness in the Flatiron District, and at only 12 minutes in, I was challenging myself harder than I ever had before, furiously peddling to the beat of some sweet jams the instructor was pumping out over the stereo system while keeping an eye on the fluctuating bars on the team screen.
SWERVE’s motto is “together, we ride,” and emphasizes achieving one’s best together, hence, the set up of the class is broken out into three teams with the scores from each set being averaged and displayed on a board in the studio. It certainly takes the pressure off as an individual, and shifts one to strive to reach great stats for your team instead. As soon as class ends, your individual scores are emailed to you. Although mine weren’t nearly as high as I would have liked, for my first time at SWERVE and not spinning in a class or biking on the pavement in a few years, it could have been much worse.
I also loved the positive vibe of the class; people were there to WORK, but the instructor kept fun and light-hearted, motivating and guiding through the interval training movements and the pace, yet not being anywhere near a drill sergeant in the process. There was also a nice mix of both women and men, with a tangible sense of comradeship from people who clearly were work colleagues, friends, or new acquainted through SWERVE.Classes and packages are super easy to sign up for and manage (when you buy your first ride for $30, the second one is free), and at least for me, committing to a package and scheduling in advance keeps me consistent with attendance and also best improves my strength and performance. Speaking of signing up: isn’t a super fresh fruit smoothie a great way to conclude a great workout? SWERVE’s co-founder Eric served one up for me after my workout, and you can sign up for one of the delicious options before class, and lo and behold, it will be waiting for you when you are done; great idea, right? I think SWERVE’s covered all of the bases; now it’s your turn to grab the handlebars and go for a ride!
SWERVE Fitness is located at 30 West 18th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues) in New York City, with classes starting as early as 5:15am and as late as 7:30pm. Check out the website for more information, and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
