If you are familiar with flat-rate, unlimited monthly services and LOVE them, then I won’t have to do much convincing to let you know how GREAT BeautyPass by BeautyBooked is for getting blow outs on the regular. Available now in Manhattan, The BeautyPass is a recurring $99 per month payment, however, you can get as many blow outs as you like at fine salons throughout the city. You can email or text the concierge to confirm the day, time, and zip code of where you’d like to receive a blow out, and within 15 minutes, your appointment will confirmed. Pretty easy, right? Couldn’t be easier, actually!

Courtesy of the company, I tested out the service for two weeks, managing to easily accumulate five blow outs in that short time span, which in theory, if I kept going at that rate, it would make each blow out’s actual cost come to about $10 (plus tip)! It was streamlined and easy to use, and let me indulge in something that I thoroughly enjoy, but surely don’t get to do often enough. BeautyPass plans to add other subscription-based services, like manicures and spray tans soon, but you can use the BeautyBooked portion of the site to book ad hoc beauty treatments now.

I know that I frequently get excited about nail polish, but how could you not? Especially when a great slew of fab summer shades let you sink right into season with spunk, at only $8.50 per bottle? I’m smitten with the latest from essie, Which has a little something for everyone, from a sun-ripe peach (Peach Side Babe), to an immersive marine blue (Pret-a-Surfer). My personal favorite, Chillato, is described as a “frozen cream pistachio,” while Private Weekend (a sparkling crisp white), Saltwater Happy (sugar-sweet Atlantic blue), and Sunset Sneaks (a bright energetic crimson) are extremely versatile and pretty. The six-color summer lineup just became available this month at fine salons and beauty destinations nationwide; which one is your fave?

In all my years of living in NYC (15!) I really haven’t spent any time in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. I’ve done things on the periphery of it, like go to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and Brooklyn Museum of Art, but somehow hadn’t managed to spend any time in it until my best friend came a few weeks ago to run the Brooklyn half marathon, which goes right through the body of the park. This weekend, Fashion Pulse hubby and I returned for a leisurely stroll, and appreciated the size of it, both large and intimate, and the slight familiarity; it was designed by the same landscape architects that did Central Park, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux.
We took pause by the baseball fields and took these photos near there, listening to the chants and occasional crack of the bat making contact with the ball sound. The special part of this look is that that I’m wearing shoes that I had worn to my rehearsal dinner; who says you can’t wear wedding-related garments and accessories again?

May is Skin Cancer Awareness month, a time to detect, prevent, and protect your skin as much as possible! It’s a great time to think about the state of your skin and how to take care of it going forward, as May kicks off the warmer, more carefree weather. With outdoor activities and fun can come increased sun exposure, and this week in NYC already saw temperatures in the mid 80s. By now stores are fully stocked with SPF offerings, which means its a great time to find your go-tos and have them at-the-ready for the warmer days ahead. I’ve found that I feel most comfortable using sunscreen with more natural formulations, and am more inclined to use them when the bottle easily fits into my handbag, or is a spray that quickly canvases legs and backs with protection.
As an ultra-pale and freckly human, I’ve tested out a lot of sunscreen, and by a lot, I actually mean a TON of the stuff! Some of my favorites for the 2015 summer season include Block Island Organics Natural Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30, Kiss My Face Cool Sport Mineral SPF 30 Lotion Continuous Spray Sunscreen, Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Lotion Suncreen for the Face, and MyChelle SunShield Coconut SPF 28. Do you have a natural sunscreen that you love?
