Monarchy
Metallic cropped tops, high-wasted shorts (complete with ruffled tops and bow belts), skinny belts, metallic trenches, boyfriend shirts…all must-have items from the Monarchy S/S 2010 Collection! The shorts – the collection also featured skirt and pant versions – are, I predict, going to be a hot trend for spring and as I left the show, I overheard nearly everyone I passed gushing about them (not to mention Risto featured shorts in a similar style). The clothes in this collection had a relaxed fit, though edginess and sophistication were certainly not sacrificed for comfort.
Risto
This collection was hard to ignore, and not just because the prominent prints featured images of lightning bolts and lava. Skintight bodysuits, silk shirts, gauzy dresses, and high-waisted shorts wore lava and lightning prints in Risto Bimbiloski’s debut New York collection. While it’s easy to imagine that a dress made up of images of an electric storm could go horribly wrong, every piece in Bimbiloski’s collection was stunning and could easily be incorporated into the everyday wardrobe of the slightly more style-adventurous woman.
