To commemorate their long-standing relationship with music and 50th anniversary of the 1460 boot named after its release on April 1st, 1960, Dr. Martens had invited ten contemporary musicians to cover cult classics that embody the brand’s attitude. Collaborating with ten (both emerging and established) directors, the tracks are translated to videos which will appear consecutively on the anniversary blog. The short films are artful and absent of product placement-like footage, instead devoted to marking the intimacy between the work boot and musical subcultures over the past five decades. A limited production of 1,460 1460 boots along with 1,461 1461’s will be released to select vendors world wide, both styles available in Black and Cherry Red. Distinguished by “polished pebble leather coupled with gold heel loops and eyelets,” these exclusive Dr. Martens appeal to both devout collectors and new converts of the durable boot that is rich with cultural history. I used to be such a huge Doc Martens fan. I love that you can collect all of the colors and patterns in the way that people used to do with Keds and now with Converse, which is the modern-day Ked. I don’t see a lot of Doc Martens where I live now, but it’s good to know they are still around!
Awww, I rocked Doc Martens with my old high school uniform and thought I was the coolest ever.
excellent post! i’m going to dig up my old pair of hot pink doc martens and rock them in commemoration.
