Didn’t make it to Paris Fashion Week? Don’t fret — just hurry over to the Colette pop-up store on Fifth Avenue to get your fill of quirky products from this reknowned, go-to French boutique. The tiny temporary store is bright and heavily decorated, a stark contrast with the simple and classic motif of the Gap’s flagship Fifth Avenue location, which is hosting Colette’s temporary shop in the USA. After purchasing a plain oxford at the Gap, walking into the adjacent French store was like walking into a whole new world. The sales associates and even a few customers chatted in French, and the space was set up to look like a chic construction site.
Colette was stocked with unconventional trinkets like post-its, key-chains, stickers, and Eiffel Tower puzzles. There wasn’t a ton of clothing, but the tees with V magazine model profiles on them, are a rare commodity that people are sure to be scouring EBay to find come Monday when the shop ends its “US tour”. We absolutely adored the Alex & Chloe peace sign and French phrased necklaces, along with a cute, googly-eyed necklace, and tees depicting New York on the front and Paris on the back. We love that The Gap, a leading representative of the signature laid-back American style, is stepping into the fashion-forward foray by bringing a chic, foreign twist to their brand. The boutique closes this Sunday, October 5th, so get there now before everything is gone!
