What I Wore, NYFW Fall 2015, Day 4

It’s literally three degrees today, so there’s really no way around that; all winter accessories are called into action! Without a doubt, I was very much looking forward to the shows, and being in side today, as well as spending the evening with my friends at NARS cosmetics. From the runways today, floor length, ball-gown skirts are going to be huge, as well as slick, seamless  turtlenecks worn under dresses for fall/winter 2015.

In this look, I went for a couple of pieces that are certifiably winter-centric, like the plush from these pants and warm, wooly softness of my cardigan sweater. This jacket may not stop the paparazzi in their tracks, but it’s pretty warm, and let’s me stuff as many layers as I would like under it while minimizing that heavy, uncomfortable feeling from wearing a ton of clothing in the cold weather.

What I Wore, NYFW Fall 2015, Day 3

There are pieces that just pull a look together, despite the weather, and this pleated pattern skirt from Lands’ End is exactly what I’m talking about. Everything was built around the skirt, which was certainly the centerpiece of my day 3 look. I do love wearing black and white, but there’s something about a great hue of navy that really feels like its pushing the fashion element forward in a look.

From Fashion Week, I can report that fur accents, both faux and real, are HUGE, adorning the entirety of sleeves, or just the shoulders or the cuffs, along with huge, stole-like pieces attached to collars, which in this weather, actually feels quite comforting and functional. For beauty, a tucked in half, sleek ponytail has already been seen on the runways multiple times, while faces are kept relatively bare, with an occasional pop of a bright lip.

I’m going to attempt to keep my hair wavy and my lipstick bright for the rest of New York Fashion Week; let’s see how that goes!

What I Wore: NYFW FAll 2015, Day 2

For Day 2 of New York Fashion Week, my main goal was to…stay warm! The temps really dropped, which certainly makes remaining stylish quite a challenge, while dealing with drastic fluxes from blaring hot air inside of the tents to overcrowded and cramped backstage spaces and then…walking back to the train at the end of the day, exposed to the elements along the way. It’s still too early to have a good grasp on the trends for fall/winter 2015, although I can tell you that the only trend to truly emerge this early is that…no one appears to be producing season-appropriate clothing. It’s feeling much more resort, with thigh-high slits, filmy, transparent layers, and slinky fabrications than its traditionally sturdier winter counterparts. Let’s see what the rest of the week has in store for us….

What I Wore: NYFW Fall 2015, Day 1

Day 1 of New York Fashion Week was a balmy 34 degrees at its height, which meant outdoor photos and some open jackets for styling purposes here and there were okay/tolerable. Going forward, with snow on the way and single digits temps predicted for the next few days, let me give you a full disclosure: I will be wearing TWO pairs of pants, and prioritizing being inside quite a bit! I’m going to dip inside to take as many photos as possible, so apologies in advance for eschewing an idyllic Lincoln Center backdrop so that my fingers and nose don’t turn a ghastly shade of red or translucent white! Other than that, the next week will certainly be a test in dressing stylishly in extreme weather,  and fingers crossed for optimal health and warmth over the next seven days!

In this look for Day 1, I heavily played up one of my favorite color schemes, graphic black and white, for a flash of print and color without going overboard. Not surprisingly, layering is a key component to surviving the winter, so when purchasing this dress, I made sure that thick tights and a turtleneck could rest comfortable underneath. And of special note, I have to point out the black faceted ring on my right hand (pictured below), as it reminds me of the phrase “technology at your fingertips,” which can be revised to “technology on your fingers!”

The Ringly Stargaze Tech Ring in Black Onyx which came my way from Shopbop to test out during New York Fashion Week syncs with your phone via Bluetooth and an app, in which you can designate different colors and the amount of flashes that will project from the ring when you receive a call, email, text, and calendar notifications. You can specify the details, along your contacts, for example making your ring flash blue when your mom is calling. Pretty cool, right?
