Gone are the days of leaving the house in something sleeveless; a layer are two are now necessary accompaniments, as the last warm days of the year are upon us, and fall is settling in. I didn’t mind having one rather chilly New York Fashion Week day, however, as I had my heart set on wearing this matching sweater and skirt set when the temperature had dipped down to 70 degrees, or below. Pretty soon, I’ll have to pair this with thick black opaque tights, but for the time being, I’m certainly enjoying the bare leg, espadrilles look!
Speaking of…I actually hadn’t originally intended on wearing these shoes, but on the way to a show, I broke my heel! I wobbled into the show, trying to pretend that everything was hunky dory, and to be honest, I don’t think anyone even noticed. At least, that’s what I kept telling myself…

[Two different hair looks at the Banana Republic spring 2016 presentation]
It may sound odd, but for me, the hardest of the trio to master, among hair, makeup, or nails, is…hair.  With nails and your face, the surface that you need to work with is pretty straightforward and universal, yet with hair, there are so many variables that can come into play that it can get downright tricky. Thankfully, there are step by step guides and tricks from the pros to help along the way, and practice does make perfect, but oftentimes I run out of patience (and time) to master a great hair look.
This season, however, can truly instill confidence in the most hair styling challenged (like me), thanks to the simplistic looks, easily recreated to be identical to those popular on the runway. See below for the top trends, and of course, some of the trade secrets on how to easily achieve them on your own.

If you aren’t a fan of a lot of makeup, rejoice in the fact that the bulk of it disappeared from the runways this season! “Natural” makeup is in, with the occasional bright lid color or lip here and there. See below for Fashion Pulse Daily’s top four makeup trends for spring 2016:

The sixth look that I wore to New York Fashion Week this season was ALL about texture. I couldn’t resist the intricacy of this gorgeous lace top, as well as its practicality: 100% cotton AND machine washable! It was poised to be paired with an old fashion week standby, this black crochet skirt that I’ve worn to a handful of fashion events and never lets me down. Although heels would have been a nice addition to the look, my feet just wouldn’t have it. I’ve been wearing these comfy espadrilles all summer long as my favorite go-to sandal, and the smooth leather of the uppers kept the outfit vibe on the sophisticated side. I really wanted to exemplify a look that was effortless, and expensive. Who doesn’t want to look expensive?
I managed to get the top on sale and it was an amazing deal ($37), but I was still hoping that it looked as if I’d spent a small fortune on it. Having an eye for what is passable as luxury designer clothing and accessories while not breaking the bank is part of the fashion game that keeps me on toes and challenges my aesthetic sensibility every time I walk into a store. If my hubby, mom, or best friend ever tells me that something looks “cheap,” that’s an instant indicator that it will remain on the rack, not in my closet!
