Sneak Peek: Latigo Footwear Fall 2015 Collection

Latigo Footwear is one of those brands that’s just so approachable; easy to wear, and easy to buy (nothing is above $200), the styles offer unique detailing and high quality materials, surely making them a blockbuster addition to your shoe collection. There’s definitely a slightly vintage, largely ’70s vibe in earthy tones and updated modern detailing so that they feel fresh and functional and oh so you. I rounded up an handful of my favorites for you to check out, breaking them into two sections: above, you’ll find a selection of work-appropriate styles, and below, those intended to tackle whatever the weekend may throw your way.

The It Accessory: The Paired-Down Handbag

Ladylike simplicity and sophistication is the name of the game when it comes to handbags these days, void of flashy labels and signature, stand out detailing. These days, to be “in” is to actually blend in; to have a handbag of quality and substance, that is whispering softly, “here I am, glance my way if you like,” instead of screaming “look at me! look at me! look at me!”

“Nobody elegant will ever want to show a logo,; to display one’s wealth, it’s the epitome of vulgarity, ” exclaimed Jean Touitou, the owner of French fashion label A.P.C. to the Wall Street Journal last week in its article dedicated to “The Revenge of the Anti-It Bag.” I’ve got to concur with him, and although as colloquial and Chanel-esque his soundbite comes across, the most luxurious items, in my experience, tend to possess an understated quality. It’s pretty obvious that my fascination with T.J.Maxx and Marshalls borders on the obsessive, but I can’t help it when there is a constant flow of high-quality, on-trend merchandise at amazing prices coming through the door. I recently compiled some fabulous fall 2015 accessories (also see this feature) seen on the runway, but realized that there’s no need to wait to shop these trends, which ranged from the blinged out to boho, subversive to statement-making. Taking the lead from the modern bohemian aesthetic as inspiration, the newest collection is described by Pina Ferlisi, Henri Bendel’s Creative Director as “boho beach meets Boho sport.”

Blush pinks, vibrant blues, and new riffs on the signature brown and white stripe round out the Henri Bendel spring 2015 collection when it comes to handbags, with some ombré, a touch of neon,a terrific, sophisticated butterfly print, and great texture via perforation, straw, and woven fabrications are also in the mix. The jewelry lineup is straight forward and simultaneously versatile, subtly featuring the latest trends including ear jackets, fluid metal cuffs, figure 8 stacked rings, tassels, the use of pearls, and asymmetrical shaping.

As always, small leather good abound by way of wallets, iPhone cases, and jewelry books, along with items to get you thinking about the warmer weather to come, such as jelly flip flops, over sized canvas totes, straw hats, delightful sunglasses, beach-infused candles like “Boho Beach” and “Ocean Mist,” and statement-making, stylish luggage, apropos for a tropical island getaway.
