I’m a Redhead Now!

I do have to say…redheads get more attention than blondes! I decided to make this swift change, just in time for fashion week, to my tresses, and Fryda at Red Door Salon on Fifth Avenue work diligently on a red hue for me while Billy shaped my hair with a much-needed cut.  The commitment-phobe that I am, this is only semi-permanent color, so each time you see a photo of it, it most likely will be a different hue as the color changes.

In the meanwhile, since I don’t have any colored-hair friendly products, I luckily got a hold of some Alterna products to preserve the color and shine! I will be using the Bamboo Color Hold + Vibrant Color Shampoo and Conditioner (which contains strengthening organic bamboo extract, UV blocking technology as a barrier to prevent fading, and Kalahari Melon to nourish and protect), Bamboo Color Hold + Fade Proof Finishing Gloss for extra shine, and the Bamboo™ UV+ Color Protection Rehab Deep Hydration Masque for extra nourishment and color guarding.

I need to spend some time testing and rethinking the colors I wear on my face and body to best compliment this new vibrant shade, but look forward to the possibilities!

Tested: Le Métier de Beauté Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo

After a 12- work day, which began with a 6am trip to the gym, I figured it was THE perfect opportunity to test out the new Le Métier de Beauté Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo. In 15 minutes, the crescent moon shaped translucent masks work to reduce redness, puffiness, re-energize, and smooth the area; just what I needed after this endlessly long day! A great way to rejuvenate yourself while traveling or after a long night, you can further cool the sensation of the eye masks by placing them in the fridge for 20 minutes


After peeling back the packaging, I discovered the masks to be ultra moist, soft, yet sturdy, Upon applying under my eyes, the cool, wet, sensation was actually quite welcome, and the time slipped by  rapidly, MUCH faster than some of my other mask for the hair or face treatments.

Upon removal, the masks easily peeled off, and to the touch, my under eye area felt beyond silky and moisturized; it actually made me feel kind of bad, like they REALLY needed this hydration, and I’ve been neglecting them all along!

Fashion Pulse Daily’s Fashion Week Fall 2013 Essentials

There is no denying the glamour of Fashion Week (our coverage starts this Thursday, February 7th!), however it takes some necessary behind-the-scenes prep, largely in the beauty department,  in order to keep up with the daily grind of heading to shows, trekking to and from the subway, and camping out on a floor and crossing my fingers for a steady wifi connection.

Since I’ve been covering Fashion Week for nine years now, I’ve learned a few tricks, and the most important one is knowing my own needs. See below for my pre, during, and post-fashion week go-tos!

I KNOW I won’t wash my hair every day, so a dry shampoo or amazing styling product is essential. This season, I will be using this handbag-size Ojon full detox  Rub-Out Dry Cleansing Spray (courtesy of my friends at Birchbox) to keep my tresses residue and oil-free, looking, and smelling fresh, so when someone comes in for a cheek or air kiss, the fact that I only had 15 minutes to get ready and leave the house that morning will be undetectable.

Speaking of undetectable scents, above I have the new Secret Outlast Clear Gel as my deodorant, as it offers 48-hour protection with no marks — essential for me since I tend to borrow some pieces to wear during the week, and can’t afford to get fragrant in the wrong way, or have any deodorant rub off onto the borrowed clothing.

Since I spend some time on camera and conducting interviews throughout the week, I can’t afford for my manicure to look worn out, so I will be giving my digits the gel treatment with the SensationNail Gel Polish, available in 48 shades (favorites of mine include the french manicure and mauve maven) and offers an ultra-shiny, chip-free manicure.

Kate Somerville Helps to Hydrate, Repair, Enhance, Perfect!

I think I may have just found a new favorite.
