SPANAIL Art for Valentine’s Day

Monochromatic digits will always be a classic look, however when your hands are… in the right hands, nail art, even for one finger on each hand, adds a fashion element to your fingers! As the runways continue their love affair with nail art, it goes to show that nail decor isn’t going away anytime soon. My favorite stop in New York City for unique digit designs is SPANAIL by Nail Quick in Soho (where I first visited back in June), and recently re-visited to have some lighthearted Valentine’s Day-inspired art done!

SPANAIL‘s manager and artist extraordinaire, Maki, worked on my nails again, using SPANAIL’s own gel brand, Nail Quick, which is the most incredible nail gel I’ve ever experienced! Each application only took literally five seconds to try; I barely placed my hand in the dryer before it was shutting off. Since I’m always short on time, the lengthy time commitment it takes to do gel polish is always a deterrent for me, but with Nail Quick’s polish, it actually was quite a breeze.

The gorgeous, goopy pots of gel color looked like sticky shimmery lip gloss, which Maki carefully applied with precision to my nail tips, creating not a French tip, but rather hearts, all in different hues, on my nails. The stunner was surely my ring fingers, each adorned in a metallic gel hue and completed with four tiny bulbous crystals for an extra blingy effect. Besides the actual artwork, the overall manicure was meticulous and totally relaxing; my cuticles were repaired and hydrated, the buff was gentle yet effective, all the while I chatted away with the artists and sipped on the delicious green tea.

Sherry’s Tips:

  • After getting your haircolored, it is vital to wait a full 48 to shampoo your hair.  Naturally, it takes 48 hours for your cuticle layer to lay to its normal state and at that point lock in the haircolor dye.powder bluff by kerastase
  • Dry shampoos are the next BEST thing! On the second morning of your style, spray your dry shampoo at the root area and flip over and shake your hair. The dry shampoo will absorb the excess oil from your hair and scalp as well as a fresh feeling.  I LOVE them! My favorite is Powder Bluff by Kérastase.

Beautiful Brands to Know: Antonym, Leonor Greyl, Votre Vu, Juara

I love the thrill and the joy derived from discovering new beauty products, so for today’s installment of beauty news, I wanted to bring you a multitude of products and brands to explore.

Votre Vu‘s French handcrafted, professional grade products includes a vast array of items designated for each skin condition, and one designated for men,  as well as innovative color cosmetics. I’m also loving the Beauté En BronzeTantalizing Bronzer Duo, $34, which combines both blush and bronze into one sleek compact, and the Vu-On Rouge Sheer Moisture Color Accent for Lips and Face, $29, available in three universal colors and the perfect tint for on-the-go color.

Antonym, the only ECOCERT certified line of natural and organic makeup is free of all of the potentially bad stuff, such as parebens, synthetic fragrances, sulfates, petrochemicals, phthalates, and is cruelty free, founded by pro makeup artist Valerie Giraud. Even the packaging is designed with eco-friendly and sustainable materials such as bamboo, making for an earth-friendly, and good looking makeup presentation. The oil derived from the candlenut is high in essential fatty acids and is ultra hydrating, popular in Indonesian spas and moisturizes without becoming too thick or greasy. Other bestsellers from the brand include a coffee body scrub, rice facial cleanser, and the natural soy and vegetable oil-based Hope Candle.
