From our friends at thefind.com:
When I was in college, my favorite pants were a pair of super comfortable cargo pants that I wore with practically everything. So when I had to throw them out, they were falling to pieces. Cargo pants have always been a favorite of mine even when the fashion authorities have ruled them to be out of style. So when I was looking for a new pair of shorts to wear this summer, I was elated to see that cargo shorts are back in style!
Right off the coattails of the military style trend, utility cargo shorts is all about the feminine yet tough look that reminds me of Rosie the Riveter. I think the best way to wear cargo shorts is with a sense of balance. Add a basic slim fitting tank top or t-shirt for a super easy casual look. To dress it up, find a printed tunic and add a bold belt to top it all off. My favorite pick is the Vince Utility Short Shorts which you can find in khaki or army green!

I recently received from Garnier their brand new Skin Renew Anti-Dark-Circle Roller, a 2-in-1 eye roller that both corrects and conceals dark circles. I feel like I’ve chronically had dark under eye circles since age 8, so I was intrigued to test out this new product; it comes in one universal tint shade that is quite sheer, and tended to blend well into my super white skin. I even put a little on a forming pimple on my chin, and it seemed to do the trick there as well. The correction aspect is executed via the ingredients of caffeine and lemon essence which are meant to stimulate, smooth, and brighten the area under your eyes over time. I’ve only tested it for three days so far, so I can’t quite vouch yet for the long term effects, but I really like its thin, sleek shape and roller ball application. The Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark-Circle Roller will be available in July of 2010, and will retail for $12,99.

Maybelline recently gave me their latest addition to its mascara empire, Falsies by Volum’ Express Mascara. Retailing for $7.77, launching in July of 2010, available in both washable and waterproof shades, this product utilizes an ‘exclusive spoon-shaped brush with its innovative,
flexor stem wand designed to sit perfectly along the lash line, as well as its Pro-Keratin fiber-enriched formula, meant to instantly plump lashes and fill in gaps for a dramatic false lash effect’. At first glance, it wasn’t unlike any other mascara I had tried, although the application process was incredibly smooth and clump-free. After a few strokes across the lashes I thought they looked pretty full and lengthy, so I stepped out for a ‘girls night out’, later to meet up with the boyfriend, who commented ‘Wow, did you do something to your lashes?’ — this is coming from a guy who never notices my makeup. Yeah, I would say it works pretty well!

I recently tested out the Marrakesh Maven Dress by Columbia Sportswear, $65 to see for myself how their Omni-Dry Advanced Evaporation and Omni-Shade SPF 50 Sun Protection Clothing worked – the moisture repellent technology is supposed to keep sweat away from the body and quickly evaporate, while the sun protection technology shields you from UV rays . Sounded like great stuff to incorporate in a garment, so I went out on this past ultra-sunny, Memorial Day weekend in my cute little new dress. The fabric on the dress had a stretchy, combed cotton jersey top, while the skirt portion was a different, slightly more silky jersey material. I really liked the slight contrast of the two fabrics, and the dress also came equipped with pockets, which is always a plus in my opinion.
After being out for both brunch and lunch, I felt the heat of the 88 degree day, yet was not coated in perspiration (sorry to be a little graphic). As for the SPF factor, this technology is also recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation, and being etremely pale (I know, it’s pretty obvious), it’s nice to feel that I’m getting a little extra coverage. All in all, I definitely recommend this as a perfect summer day dress for work, travel, or play; this particular Marrakesh Dress is available in three colors, or try the Costa Bella Dress which offers the same technologies plus a built-in bra.
