Club Monaco Keeps it Cool for Summer

If Jackie O has taught us anything, it’s keep it simple and classic and you can’t go wrong. For Summer 2011, Club Monaco has done just that. They’ve kept their usual palette, the muted neutrals, with pops of rich blue, sea foam, and lemon. The Vice President of Womens Designs and Club Monaco, Caroline Belhumeur, was inspired by some of her recent travels to St. Barths, Morocco, and the Maldives. The understated sequins and patterned blues are reminiscent of underwater scenes, while the trenchcoats layered over knits for both men and women came from Carey Mulligan in “An Education” and old photos of a young Michael Cane.

The vibe here can assertively be described as urban casual-meets-luxury. Feminine Bomber jackets, lightweight full skirts, and lots of airy cotton and silk tend to be paired together. You can dress up sequined shorts for a Saturday night out, or pair them with flats and a slouchy cardigan for a lazy brunch the next day. Simple, sexy, yet sophisticated. Jackie O would approve. Spring Accessories Preview: Sorrelli, Spring Shoes, Lodis, More

When the folks at Shine Media asked us to come over for breakfast and peruse some of the shiny, glittering accessories for spring, that RSVP was a no-brainer. Some of our favorite brands were in the house (you remember Sorrelli, right?) and some newcomers that we will definitely be obsessing over.

Martine Wester

Accessories veteran Martine Wester has a new gladiator and armor-inspired collection, TOUGH LOVE: battalia. According to the brand, it’s full of “chunky statement pieces for the fashion brave,” and we agree. The Roman touch extends to delicate charmed necklaces, tough-but-tender cuffs, and sweet clutch bags and coin purses.

Sorrelli

FPD LOVES Sorrelli, so when we saw these amazing pieces coming out for spring, we immediately started envisioning dates with out-of-this-world rockstars who could compliment the high bling factor found in these new pieces.

Katch

All of  designer Kathy Flesch‘s pieces are handcrafted in Flesch’s native Colombia with a filigree style that is a quintessentially feminine, fulfilling Flesch’s goal to design for women from all cultures.

Ames and Jess

For Spring collection first-timers, Ames and Jess seem like accessory experts. Their designs are unique, with a rustic sensibility lent from their use of old metals and charms. 

Lodis

When Lodis says, “You know who you are. Get noticed”, we suggest you take them at their word. Their printed leather bags, wallets, and accessories are not only perfect for someone who must abide by, or prefers a professional look, but doesn’t like to be so cookie-cutter in their choices.

Spring Shoes

Sister company to Aldo, Spring Shoes is another FPD favorite that we just can’t get enough of. Just about everything is under $80, with the perfect prices and styles for hip trendsetters who want to get the look and spare their debit card. Check out their peep toes and cut-out styles this spring.

Design “Your Very Own Le Pliage” on Longchamp’s Facebook Page

Riding on the popularity of its iconic, foldable bag, French brand Longchamp has created a new version that fans can customize on Facebook. Longchamp has launched “Your Very Own Le Pliage”, an application that allows fans to create their own version of the bag in just a few clicks. First, you pick your model, then you choose a handle. Third comes the color, and last, you can add a personalized touch to your creation.

In these four simple steps, you can have your own Le Pliage bag to share with on your profile and with Facebook friends. Or display your incredible fashion sense as art in a gallery just for “Your Very Own Le Pliage” application users.
