The Show: Brandon Sun
The Theme: Dark, layered and defined
The Color Palette: Back, dark green, grey, and navy.
the inspiration behind the choosing these hues was based off the mystical interiors by Axel Vervoodt, as well as from Wabi Sabi influences of simplicity and humility.
The Signature, Standout Look: Brandon Sun for fall 2013 was truly a ready-to-wear collection that could have stepped off of the presentation platform and into the New York City streets, something that Bill Cunningham would have absolutely loved to immediately photograph. Deep V’s, high slits, and intricate back detailing were most present but most noted was the layering of different fabrics and textures, while still keeping with the contours of a women’s shape. The combining of fabrics, like sheer mesh with fur or silks with knits, all of the same color scheme gave these looks a bold monochromatic feel. The slouchy yet defined collection can be transformed from fall to winter easily, whether it be adding or shedding a layer, you will be city slick in any one of these pieces.

The Show: Josie Natori
The Theme: Chinoserie Inspired by 1930s Opulence
The Signature, Standout Look: A nostalgic feeling took over the Josie Natori Fall 2013 presentation as models posed in front of an abstract floral folding wall with retro yet glam hair and makeup. Although the color palette drastically varied, it was the intricate embellishments and embroidered dragon patterns that gave these garments a subtle richness that was the standout, and signature of the Natori brand that made each piece a collectible.

The Show: Misha Nonoo Fall 2013 Collection
The Theme: Russian detailing with British tailoring
The Inspiration: A confident and sexy woman is packing and considers what key pieces she will take with her when traveling from Britain to Russia.
The Signature/Standout Look: The Russian adornment was one of the main focuses of the Mischa Nonoo Fall 2013 collection, with ornamentation such as gold buttons jackets and blazers, the magpie print, gilded crests, and of course, how can a girl go to Russia without her fur hat? But what gives these clothes some attitude is pairing these stylish details with the signature British tailoring. Nonoo incorporated the two by giving many of the jackets, skirts, and pants defined hemlines and structure. The standout piece from the collection was the ink and white smoke-hued digital floral print silk strapless gown, that was firmly ready for the colder months thanks to the wool jacket and fur hat styling!

The Show: Ruffian
The Theme: Dramatized Britain
The Color Palette: Monochromatic; blacks and greys
The Standout Look: Considering the designers’ background in fine arts and costume design, it is no surprise this collection had such a dramatic flare. Ruffian took classic British styles and revamped them with theatrical embellishments such as tassel necklaces, capes, and silk and leather neck ties. One of the standout looks was a bright purple cropped pant suit layered over a pinstripe shirt dress. The outfit was completed with the signature cap of the collection. The combination of colors, patterns and garments in this ensemble was extremely unpredictable and, therefore, completely exciting to watch as it easily emulates Ruffian’s signature style.

The Show: Jill Stuart
The Theme: Aristocratic Brit
The Color Palette: Dark neutrals and a variety of reds and oranges
The Standout Look: Jill Stuart’s fall collection was delightfully filled with lighthearted, elegant cocktail dresses and pant/jacket combos that have both day and night potential. Each piece showed exquisite detail with laser cut wool, lace, and silks fabrics. While all of the dresses were incredibly unique and sophisticated, one that stuck out in particular was a long-sleeved, silk striped dress. The black stripes were masterfully pieced together to create an intricate and flattering design, while the peplum skirt and accentuated shoulders gave the frock an extra bit of flare. The dress is both feminine and polished, making it a perfect outfit for just about any outing.
