What I Wore: NYFW Look 5

Fashion week is always one of the longest, and shortest weeks of the year. I don’t know how it is able to capture that sense of duality…but it just does! On this particular day, I was extremely short on time, running around quite a bit, and as was my handsome photographer, Fashion Pulse Hubby. We did the best that we could with the time and lighting we had to document this look, and sometimes that’s all you can do is to simply try your best, and work with what you’ve got. I also, for the most part, worked with what I currently had in my wardrobe for this look, with a few small but significant new additions.

I’ve been wanting to try the sleeveless blazer look, which I began earlier in the week with a nicole by nicole miller sleek piece in black, and now I’ve adopted a longer, blush-toned piece that is just perfect for this weather. With the return of turtlenecks, I can extend its wear into fall by layering a thin, seamless black, grey, or white one underneath. I paired it with a new pendant necklace from Sorrelli that is a chic update to my usual go-to necklace, an oversized statement one, that could have accidentally overpowered this look.

T.J.Maxx & Marshalls Fall & Winter Home Preview

It’s not every day that you spend a morning among an array of tastefully arranged holiday décor, perfect for the fall, outdoor entertaining, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. T.J.Maxx and Marshalls has the perfect home accents that you’ll love to incorporate into your celebrations and traditions, with some of my favorites pictured in the slideshow above.

Since you most likely won’t want to spend a lot on seasonal decorations, there’s no reason that you will have to, or ever will, especially when you shop at these stores. Over the years, my mom has furnished my apartment with holiday tea towels, for practically every occasion, proudly leaving the price tags on to show me what a great deal they were, all purchased at T.J.Maxx and Marshalls! Enjoy my top picks, which include some super cute salt and pepper shakers, along with some home organization and cleaning supplies, and gourmet food items (in the most well-designed, cool packaging, of course).

What I Wore: NYFW Look 4

After spending about eight years living in midtown west, the new home of, or at the very least, an integral part of New York Fashion Week this season, I can say with assurance that it candidly displays picturesque, “New York grit” to a “T”. It can be industrial, and rough around the edges, and quite possibly, give away a very fashion “look” in photographs.

At least…that’s what I’m hoping! I think there were some cool shapes, via building columns and mechanical things, that lent an avant-garde aura of this massive concrete jungle to the images. The sturdy, stiff nature of my dress and bag play well with the background, with softness and femininity reintroduced into the look thanks to my waved hair’s movement, a slash of bright lipstick, and sparkling jewels.

What I Wore: NYFW Look 3

Personal style at fashion week, for me, has a bit to do with making a good impression, but more importantly, feeling at ease. I’d never not want to feel like myself there, but more like an enhanced version of myself, and perhaps capitalize on an opportunity to wear something that I don’t every day. I enjoy wearing something by a designer whose show I will be attending that day, and in this case, it was Mara Hoffman. I love her prints, easily recognizable, and fall into the category of simply gorgeous, not flashy. She also picks the best silhouettes to display them on, and this tunic dress made me feel at ease on a hot day, in which one still had to maintain some stylish decorum.

There’s no denying that this print stole the show for my outfit, and I did the best to compliment it with colors and shapes in my accessories that would accentuate, not deter, from the dress. Mission accomplished? I’d like to think so…
