It’s crazy what a difference a year can make. At the very least, it can be a reminder to enjoy every moment and take nothing for granted. From a sartorial standpoint, I feel like I’m in a very place than I was a year ago, but then again, my wardrobe hasn’t really changed all that much. My needs may have though, and the concessions that I am willing to make to look and live stylishly certainly aren’t the same. I think as I grow older, an emphasis on stylish comfort resounds, and although I have my gussied up moments, I most importantly need clothes that will move me from my work day to the weekend, from my home to a travel destination, with nary a wrinkle or blister to boot.
Speaking of boots…there’s not much that sets the tone for fall more than a new pair of boots. Continue reading…

After an insanely busy month, with New York Fashion Week wedged in there, I can’t help but yearn for a more peaceful, relaxing time, embodied by my experience in late August at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa in New Mexico. Situated between Santa Fe and Taos, the springs have been there for a countless number of centuries, however in 1868 the first bath house was built at the site and Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs became a pioneer as one of the orginal natural health resorts to open in the U.S.
A self-declared spa addict, I came to know about the spa based on a recommendation from my good friend Dina who used to live in Santa Fe, curious to discover for myself the health benefits of the varied sulfur-free mineral waters of lithia, iron, soda, mudd, and arsenic, as well as observe the spa culture in this part of the country.
The resort area surrounding the mineral springs was serene and tasteful, a nice mix of New Mexico flair mixed with the best of traditional spa motifs, featuring Adirondack and lounge chairs and hammocks for guests to rest in, while tiki torches were lit once it reached dusk to illuminate the largely outdoor spa areas. After taking turns in each of the pools, where 100,000 gallons a day of water steam to the surface, I literally soaked in the benefits of the geothermal mineral springs, such as relieving digestive problems, boost the blood and immune system, and help with arthritis, and skin conditions (see a detailed list here).

Gone are the days of leaving the house in something sleeveless; a layer are two are now necessary accompaniments, as the last warm days of the year are upon us, and fall is settling in. I didn’t mind having one rather chilly New York Fashion Week day, however, as I had my heart set on wearing this matching sweater and skirt set when the temperature had dipped down to 70 degrees, or below. Pretty soon, I’ll have to pair this with thick black opaque tights, but for the time being, I’m certainly enjoying the bare leg, espadrilles look!
Speaking of…I actually hadn’t originally intended on wearing these shoes, but on the way to a show, I broke my heel! I wobbled into the show, trying to pretend that everything was hunky dory, and to be honest, I don’t think anyone even noticed. At least, that’s what I kept telling myself…
