The L.A.M.B. collection shot onto the runway with Kenyan prints made into fun, flirty, SoCal dresses that only Gwen could create. The screen projected bright, bold, colorful imagery, which could have come straight from a safari reserve. Giant thunderbolts on a bright orange screen, followed by soothing blue/green clouds served the collection well; for the boldly printed and pleated dresses, pant suits and draped beachy pieces put you in the mood for travel. The lively reggae mix had everyone grooving in their seats, and despite a rather long presentation, the trend of color and native looks make for a fun adventure.

There were just two days during New York Fashion Week that had some rain (thank goodness!) and I was prepared with my clothes, and of course, and umbrella. I wore a Bruno Pieters cream top Isabel Toledo for Payless fold over rain booties, and compliments of Shop It To Me , the Tory Burch Gray Pant. The pants were a silken, lightweight, deep navy hue — at once casual yet sophisticated enough to pair with heels.
If you haven’t heard of Shop It To Me yet, I can tell you that you will be anxious to sign up for a free acount once I give you the “in a nutshell” explanation. Inspired by the arid desert landscape, the Ports 1961 show on Friday took the audience by storm. The palette was a muted mix of sandy hues with pops of emerald green and magenta. I loved the bright white peaking out from the warm khaki tones of a swingy cropped trench in the first look of the show. So wearable! So chic!
The models gave off a cool-as-can-be Farrah Fawcett vibe with their voluminous curly hair and shimmering bronze skin. Beyond the desert theme, what unified the show was the beautiful draping. Each look seemed to float effortlessly on the model as she graced the runway with long, sweeping strides.
The show progressed into evening wear with feathery dresses, rose-gold metallic, and some serious Swarovski crystal accents. For those willing to splurge, Fiona Cibani delivers the shimmering sand and sun of the Sahara directly into your wardrobe.
