Every girl needs a good purse (or 12). Whether you’re going for groceries or running from class to class, they are simply essential for holding all your, uh, essentials. Each week, I’m going to show you a fashionable, yet functional purse for the college crowd and let you know why you absolutely need it! I apologize ahead of time to your bank account.

I just finished my exams on Tuesday (hooray for me!) and have quickly shifted my focus to planning my summer. I want to take several roadtrips, spend weekends at my camp (or cottage, whichever you prefer), work hard at my new job and look stylish while doing it all! I also can’t wait to spring clean the crap my wardrobe. I started this ritual a few years back and now thrive on tossing the old and bringing in the new!

Did You Know Columbia Makes Dresses: FPD Presents the High Tail Honey II Dress

A total surprise, right? Definitely in a good way! I’m LOVING cotton slub chambray lately, and the  Columbia High Tail Honey II Dress, $65, just does it so well. Available in three colors, this dress looks techy but feels downright comfortable, encouraging you to slip on a comfy pair of shoes and explore a neighborhood, or chic it up with some chunky jewelry and wear to work or fun outdoors event. It definitely possesses the right amount of tailoring and ease, with drawstring flexibility at the neck and waist, along with roll-tab sleeves perfect for weather changes.

*As a side note, I was at Construction Junction, a gem of a commercial and residential salvage warehouse over the weekend in Pittsburgh, and found this massive image of Japan; I just thought the colors and composition was beautiful, if not a bit solemn. FPD’s Spring 2011 Sorel Pick: The Sentry Mid Leather Sneaker

There’s just something about a white sneaker that is at once chic, timeless, and simply put, impeccable. I’ve been sporting a pair of Jack Purcells for years, and was glad to give a new pair of white sneaks a test run, compliments of Sorel. The Sorel Sentry Mid Leather Sneakers, $100, are available in “White Swan” or “Black”, and feature a rubber toe, contrast stitching, a dash of suede at the heel, and vulcanized rubber for traction.

This is Sorel’s first foray into a spring/summer collection, and later this month, we will be hosting a giveaway of the Tivoli Rain Boot.
