Again this season, I was backstage and front of house to taken in both the shows and the behind the scenes action. I spoke with key hair, nails, and makeup artists, with the majority of the coverage published at BeautyHigh.com and Makeup.com. Vivienne Tam:
Maybelline Makeup Artist Andy Koh (pictured – look how cute he is!) created a look for Vivienne based on the Japanese Zen Garden/’70s theme, bringing in gold and copper as well as green hues to fit in with the collection. He used Fit Me! Foundation, Eye Studio in Forest Flury and Irresistible Ivy, Falsies Mascara, and Shine Sensational Lip Color in Coral Luster.

Zang Toi’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection opened with a big bang; beautiful taupe, black, and white silk garments kept the audience’s eyes locked on the runway as the glamorous looks brushed by. The flowing length of the pieces swayed behind the models in flawless ruffles, uttering a toned down simple and chic aesthetic. Just when you thought you had a decent understanding of the collection, Toi incorporated that striking royal blue (the one you see all over the streets these days) into many of his dresses, in particular the one seen on Kirstie Alley, who made a rare, runway appearance. Brighter colors, shorter lengths, and bedazzling jewel décor all built up to the elegance of the finale, which gave off a sense of royalty that one never would have anticipated from the more casual start of the show.

Gorgeous braiding with chunky cut outs is the new bodycon; some tribal influences are noticeably present, along with a slightly aggressive, smoldering sex appeal which will make the red carpet melt beneath the feet of young starlets who don Leger come spring.

It seems like an impossible feat, but with her latest collection, Kamali accomplishes a journey through the ’20s into the ’90s via fringe, bell bottoms, polka dots, maillots, and more!

Badgley Mishcka for spring 2012 showed bright hues, such as yellow, citron, green, pink, and burnt orange, in jacquard, brocade, chiffon, and organza. A stunning turquoise brocade cocktail dress with intricate purple detailing came down the runway followed by a fuchsia number with beautiful structure and tailoring, including a peplum, which adds layers in the front for a fun, feminine look. Bright colors and silver belts make this classic look have an edgy feel, as well as, a turquoise leather jacket over a bright turquoise swimsuit adds a little rock n’ roll into the collection. Mark Badgley and James Mischka truly have an eye when designing their collections, as cinched waists, sweetheart necklines, and layered ruffles are flattering on every woman.
