Yesterday I was honored to attend the FN Summit, a day with the major players from within the footwear industry to meet, present, and discuss the future of the category. Most fascinating to me was Session III, entitled Fashion Social: Clicking into Three Innovative Case Studies, with presentations by Rebecca and Uri Minkoff of Rebecca Minkoff, Leah Robert of Camuto Group, and Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller. Each speaker emphasized how essential working with social media is to the growth of a brand, and regularly using platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram. At Rebecca Minkoff, print ads were even generated via site fans/users who crafted photos via the image filter of Instagram.

Summer Must-Have: The Cropped Bustier (thefind.com’s Guest Post)

While the word ‘bustier’ may initially conjure up flashbacks of an 80s-fabulous Madonna, complete with teased hair and cone boobs, modern takes on the lingerie-inspired trend have thankfully been updated to suit a more modern gal’s stylings. Aside from the fact that the style itself is still not at all shy in its sex appeal, there’s also something unexpectedly sophisticated about a bustier
top – maybe it’s the confined structure of the garment, or maybe it’s because you’re almost forced to tone the rest of your outfit down to balance it – but whatever the reason, it’s become the perfect playful must-have for summer! Pair with some distressed cut-off shorts and a breezy cardigan for daytime, or with a tailored blazer, skinny jeans, and pumps for a night out – if you’ve got it, now’s the perfect opportunity to flaunt it! From tribal-inspired embroidery to sweet florals and retro polka dots, a bustier top is the perfect sexy separate for the season’s flouncy skirts, printed shorts, high-waisted bottoms, and more!

Julia Off Duty

I often go out and meet friends or head to an event immediately after work, sometimes changing out my top or dress into something less “office appropriate,” but usually my shoes and handbag remain the same. I need to travel light and travel functional, because if I go home to ‘change,” good luck getting me out the door again!

It’s great to have good versatile pieces that can move from the work place to the chic French bistro down the street where I meet my girlfriends for happy hour; for this Friday afternoon I swapped out an Alternative Apparel t-shirt I was wearing for a more risque handkerchief top, flats for wedges, and added my favorite turquoise double knuckle ring. All day I rocked a great new Goody elastic, which adds a bit of hardware chic via a metal jewelry-inspired bar.

How do you transition your look from day to evening with minimal updates?
