The change of the seasons can be a beautiful thing, especially when you’re fully prepared for it with your sartorial selections. On a recent weekend I ventured to Brooklyn to check out the Fashion Work of Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and strolled around the area a bit beforehand, as it sits on the grounds right next to the unbelievably gorgeous Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
The crowd at and around the museum that day was certainly a cool mix of the fashion and the art worlds, colliding, and I felt right at home, as well as downright cozy in my weather-appropriate duds. For starters, the cold and the wind was picking up, but luckily, the Columbia Omni-Heat thermal reflective technology found in my jacket locked in the heat while regulating my body temperature, and the seam-sealed, Omni-Tech featured blocked moisture and inclement weather from seeping through the jacket.
Thanks to this (and a fabulous, fur-lined hood), I could wear a chic, lighter layer underneath to blend amongst the fashionably dressed once inside the museum.
The exhibit itself was extraordinary (see the FashionPulseDaily Instagram feed from November 10th for pics), bringing together the best of the designer’s work through the decades, ranging from celebrity looks to Gaultier’s sketches, and themes grouped together such as “Punk Can can,” “Tribal,” and even a red light district room; the exhibit runs until February 23rd, 2014, so there’s plenty of time to check it out!
