The Show: Lisa Perry Fall/Winter 2013
The Theme: Nostalgic style with modern applications
The Color Palette: Black and white; blue and black; and pink, purple, and blue are the primary color combinations.
The Inspiration: The geometric shapes, hypnotizing swirls, poka-dots and of course the iconic oversized dot is inspired by Perry’s love for everything ’60s, however, this upcoming collection, “mazes, twists, & doodles,” is also inspired by the doodles of Perry herself.
The vibrancy of this collection is expressed even before entering the shop, with a model posing as a mannequin in the front window of the Lisa Perry Madison Avenue store. Both the dresses and skirts are sculpted to have a structured look, while keeping with a modern feminine flare. What is truly lovely about the collection is its wearability factor and the reversible poka-dot to plaid jackets and dress that stole the show. All of these pieces can be worn for a fun, yet sophisticated, look while being transformed into a night piece.
P.S.–The makeup worn by the models mimicked the ’60s signature bold eye. The makeup was created by Gucci Westman, the Global Artistic Director for Revlon, and used: Revlon ColorStay 16H Eyeshadow Quad in Free Spirit from The Spring/Summer ’13 Collection by Gucci Westman, $7.49 (available April 2013) and Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen in Blackest Black, $8.99
