2020 is no one’s favorite year, and personally, I’ve found it hard, well, practically impossible, to have balance in my life and do what I love and the things that bring me joy, such as write this blog, for the past six months. I think about writing every day, and have a stockpile of ideas (a writer’s dream!), but now to just find some quiet time to push the keys… While my toddler is asleep, here’s a quick rundown of five items that I’ve recently discovered and been completely loving, while mostly at home.
1) Blossom Acetone-Free, Non-Toxic Nail Polish Remover ($7 for the 2oz bottle at Target.com)
I can’t really say that I’ve been painting my nails with any sort of frequency, but I recently bought the Blossom Nail Polish Remover and it is both gorgeous and efficacious. The first remover that I’ve ever tried that actually feels good on the nails and cuticles, it includes moisturizing essential oils (soybean and peppermint), is free of the bad stuff, and comes in two scents (Soothing Lavender, Floral Spring Bouquet). It’s dainty size and pretty glass bottle stuffed with floral dècor gives a luxurious spa feel to what otherwise is a mundane task.
2) Palmer’s Coconut Oil Hand Cream ($4.29 for the 2.1 oz at Amazon.com)
This hand cream makes me kind of mad, because I have spent SO much more on creams that haven’t nearly done as well of a job at locking in the moisture, plus the ‘hand feel’ and fragrance is just fantastic! I use this multiple times per day, and although it is rich, it dries so quickly that in seconds I’m back to touching my phone and laptop’s keyboard.
3) Foreo Mini UFO ($99 at Amazon.com)
I love my Foreo toothbrush, but had held off on getting any other devices (apparently for no good reason) until now. The Foreo Mini UFO is a facial mask treatment device that syncs with an app on your phone and uses Thermos/Cry/LED Light to deeply penetrate the skin with the mask’s moisture. You can choose from a variety of masks (see Foreo’s website for the best variety), $20 for six masks, which only work out to a few dollars each — pretty much the same price as buying a sheet mask. In a time when facials aren’t so easy to come by, it’s a nice DIY treat that your skin will surely appreciate.
4) Relaxed Cozy Half-Zip Sherpa Fleece Sweatshirt ($34 at OldNavy.com)
Sherpa is soooo popular this season and with good reason-it’s incredibly cozy and warm! Who doesn’t want to feel like they are enveloped in a blanket, am I right? I dipped my toes into the trend with this sweatshirt, and it stands alone perfectly in 50 degree weather, or great as a layering piece on a cold winter day. Length-wise it speaks to the more cropped trend, but also has a curved bottom, which is more complimentary to the derrière, especially when you are wearing leggings (that’s me, pretty much all of the time). PS- I got this for $14, but has seen it as low as $10, so be patient, and on the lookout for coupons!
