After much hype, Tyra Banks’ new reality show, Stylista, finally premiered this week on the CW. The show features eleven slightly more stylish Anne Hathaways who must bend over backwards to win the approval of a Meryl Streep-like Anne Slowey, ala the Devil Wears Prada. And for what? The winner gets the coveted position of Junior Editor at Elle magazine — a role that we never saw prior on the masthead…`
We’re hoping the competitions get a little more cutthroat, relevant, and entertaining, because we really didn’t see a reason for any of the contestants to go home after last night’s “layout” challenge, and we think Anne’s elimination catch-phrase of “You’re not the right fit,” belongs on a show about making shoes instead of working for a fashion magazine. Nonetheless, we’ll be tuning in next week to find out who gets sent to the hospital after crumbling under the pressure to impress scary Slowey!

Enough about L.A and LC, it’s time for New York City and The Hills’ nice-girl Whitney Port to take center stage! MTV confirmed last week that Whitney will star in a spin off series called The City, that will chronicle her life as a Diane Von Furstenberg employee in New York. We’re excited to hear that Whitney will finally get a love interest, and her own drama-filled group of friends. The best part (at least for us) is that DVF will appear on the show — so it has to be good! The City will premiere in the spring of 2009.
Tyra’s America’s Next Top Model sidekicks, Jay Manuel and Miss Jay, are getting their own show, too, called Operation Fabulous. The dynamic duo will travel around the country giving “high-fashion” makeovers to normal people. Top Model fanatics shouldn’t despair — Jay says the two will definitely continue to appear on the original show!
