Marchesa Marchesa! If you’re going to wear an evening gown to a red carpet event and want to appear on the ‘best-dressed’ list, it will be a guarantee if you’re wearing one of Marchesa’s fall/winter creations. The attention to detail, the frou, the colors – perfection. Everyone was raving about it, including Rachel Zoe (overheard!) and with good reason — both short and floor-lengths felt just right, and the styling, hair and makeup topped off the look so that it didn’t veer too sophisticated. Speaking of, we had the opportunity to find out more about how the ‘car with the roof down’ look was created by the Frederic Fekkai team to compliment the stunning dresses. With a ‘whimsical and courtesan’ aesthetic, Renato Campora, lead stylist for Frederic Fekkai created a artistic textured twist with volume, a look that proved to be a popular choice for fall 2010. Wondering how he did it? (Thanks to the Fekkai and Full Picture teams for supplying the info!)
On wet hair he added the Fekkai Coiff Extra Control Styling Gel combing through evenly. Once the hair was dry he added the Fekkai Au Natural Dry Shampoo to create a matte look. He then teased the hair and placed papillottes (soft twisted rollers) throughout. He allowed the hair to set and then brushed out the curls for texture. Next he pulled all the hair into a low twist at the crown of the head and secured with pins. He left the textured pieces in the front to freely frame the side of the face. He completed the look by securing the flowing hair from the twist with grosgrain ribbon at the base and finished with the Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray. Good luck trying this at home — I know you can do it!
