Artist C. Finley, a Pratt alum and artist-in-residence in Italy with designer Gai Mattiolo over the weekend embarked upon the The Wallpapered Dumpster Project, an exploration of urban waste, free art, and notions of femininity, beauty and domesticity”. The dumpsters, parked outside of the New Musuem on the Bowery in New York City, have been wallpapered in several different designs and can retain their chich facade for up to a year, depending on the given use and enivornmental factors. C. Finley will continue to canvas dumpsters in 10 cities through 2010, and encourages copy cats to take their wall paper to the streets! What do you think about the project? An interesting way to draw attention to the waste we produce and how we dispose of it?
