Did you know that one in six people in the world don’t have clean water to drink? Luckily, the fashion industry does, and they’re going to do something about it. The high-end Australian denim company Nobody, in conjunction with Ivan Kane’s Café Wa s and charity:water, have designed t-shirts for the cause that read “Nobody Wa s Thirsty.” The company is donating $40 from the sale of each shirt sold to provide people in Africa and other countries in need with safe water for twenty years! Fashion and pop-culture icons like Nas, Alan Cumming, and Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks all posed for legendary rock n’ roll photographer Mick Rock in the tee in order to raise awareness. Beginning this month you can do your part by picking up a shirt at a fine retailer near you or online — stay tuned for where to buy at www.nobody.com.au

We recently learned via WWD that Adidas is getting ready to launch a new sportswear, not activewear line called SLVR, officially making its grand debut in February during New York Fashion Week, with a new store in SoHo devouted to the collection. Although its not derived to be an eco-focused line, it does incorporate green elements such as organic cotton, soybean fabric, and the “zero waste T” made of one piece of fabric sewn once and cut once, and the “seven-piece shoe” comprised of seven stitched together pieces instead of 25 components that normally make up a piece of footwear. We’re pleased that a huge brand like Adidas recognizes the value of being eco-friendly, but we wonder if the positioning of the new sportswear line is really enough to stand out in an already crowded and unstable market..
