Nearly three weeks later, there are still songs that I heard at particular fashion shows that are still stuck in my head! Here’s a recap of some of the music heard during Fashion Week New York and London:
“Barbie Girl” by Aqua, at the Barbie Fashion Show
“Isis” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Jill Stuart
“Love Letter to Japan” by The Bird and the Bee at Milly
“Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses at Alexander Wang
The 5 Browns’ live performance at Zac Posen
Lissy Trullie’s live performance at 3.1 Phillip Lim
“O…Saya” by A.R. Rahman and M.I.A. (Slumdog Millionaire) at Narciso Rodriguez
In general, I heard Lily Allen’s new album, “It’s not me, it’s you” plaing a lot!
“Heart of Glass” Blondie cover at Charlotte Ronson
“M79” by Vampire Weekend at Peter Jensen
Prince songs at Twenty8Twelve
“Flashing Lights” by Kanye West at Danielle Scutt

Via our friends at The Budget Fashionista:
What: Retail crime is up. And Congress is paying attention, with bills that give authorities more freedom to stop it.
What They Say: “ A mass of buyers for hot new products [for instance, the trendiest new handbags] at huge discounts is fueling organized retail crime—giving “hot” a darker meaning on the Internet, swap meets or flea markets.”
What We Say: If you’ve ever been to NYC, it was probably hard to resist the urge to buy that $15 Chanel purse in that shady alley way. But even if you’ve never gone bargain hunting in Chinatown, you’ve been to Craigslist and eBay, which feature ridiculously cheap designer clothes and accessories that, at times, seem all too good to be true/legal. Since shoppers are on an increasingly tight budget and retailers are nixing more and more staff every day, theft is bound to be a big problem. You may be contributing to it unknowingly—find out if you’re sporting a fake Luis Vuitton.
Are you okay with buying “hot” commodities, and if so, will you be disgruntled if law enforcement makes them less accessible, even to the benefit of the retail industry?

Yep, you read it correctly! I remember attempting to wear press-on nails to the various date dances my school held, which normally resulted in some sort of mishap. There’s now the Kiss Everlasting French Glue-On Toenails for $5.99, which will give you that manicured, polished look for your toes. I don’t know about this one – I’m all about saving money, especially on un-necessary items, but this one might be a little too excessive. I don’t think faux toenails is a direct replacement to save money instead of getting a pedicure, plus there definitley seems like there’s room for some awkward nail-losing incidents — stuck inside a sock, left in the bathtub, comes off at the beach… Thoughts?

Identifying the unifying aesthetics of House of Holland’s Fall-Winter 2009 collection is not a difficult task. Bright, white lines of varying width run horizontally across garments of even brighter hues. If I had to venture how Henry Holland chose his color palette, I’d guess he plunged his hand into a box of jellybeans and was inspired by the first five flavors he plucked out: blueberry, raspberry, pear, grape, and licorice. The colors of the collection are definitely a treat, yet when it comes to the clothes themselves, Holland’s collection is a mixed bag. He has the most success with his shirt-and-sweater combos and his body hugging dresses (especially in black!), which capture the geometric playfulness of his more extreme pieces while avoiding any and all muppet/harlequin associations.
